Good but expected better for the price

This a well-made case. However, I didn't think the cymbals were as well protected as I'd hoped - although the base of the case has rubber "boot" to protect the case material, there is minimal padding inside the case where the edges of the cymbals hit the ground, which I found worrying since I use a ride cymbal with an unusually thin edge. I had hoped that the internal pockets would hold the cymbals away from the edges, but they turned out not to be pockets, just very lightly padded dividers, so all the cymbals in the main compartment end up resting on the bottom of the case. If the dividers were redesigned to make them padded pockets of varying sizes, this would be an excellent case, but as it is I think there are better cases for the money. I was also not convinced that the pocket for the hi-hat clutch would manage to keep the clutch away from the hi hat cymbals, which could make your hi-hats prone to damage (especially, again, if you use quite lightweight hihats). Not a bad cymbal bag, but not a great one.

m
very good bag - but not perfect
mon-t 26.11.2024
At this price I really don't understand why the bag doesn't come with dividers for the Hi Hat.
This is the first bag that I have ever tried though that seems to solve the problem of cymbals sliding down next to the padding at the bottom and therefore ending up unprotected: they have made a U-shaped thing in the bottom catching all the cymbals and holding them up. Excellent idea. The four attached dividers don't go all the way to the bottom though which results in the cymbals potentially touching each other at the bottom. That being said though the dividers are so thick that it doesn't seem to be that big of a problem.
Very comfortable handle.
As good the padding might be on the sides, the cymbals can still easily slip next to the padding so that they are unprotected on the sides (top half of the bag only on the edge).
Inside the Hi Hat pocket is a small pocket for a clutch which seems silly to me. The bulky cloth is being crammed into the cymbals which I don't think is a very good idea. Also there is a small hook in there which I don't really see the purpose for either (drum key?). I like the small splash pocket on the front though even for other small things. I'd rather put my clutch in here to be honest as there is padding between clutch and cymbals that way.
Very comfortable shoulder straps (and practical chest strap) which are attached (and detached) at the bottom with a plastic hook only though. This is not very reassuring compared to the rest of the bag.
This is definitely the best of the bags I've tested. Very good padding and protection. Lightweight while being extremely sturdy and solid. Still there are a few things which make me wonder. The perfect bag has yet to be found...

R
Solid cymbal bag
Rippou 31.07.2017
I have been using M80 cymbal bag for a couple months now and I have to say it was a great investment.

The bag itself is well built and durable, and offers good protection all around. There is enough space to fit about 5 cymbals excluding the special compartments for hi-hat and splashes. Largest cymbal I own is 22'' and I was afraid that it wasn't going to fit at first, but it fits perfectly at the center spot with extra padding near the zipper.

There are neat details with a pocket for hi-hat clutches and more flat space in the back for books or laptops. The bag has a good weight to it even when empty, but the center straps make it very stable when carrying it around on your back.

It's a more expensive choice than other cymbal bags, but a durable option which can last for years, I can highly recommend it.

G
Absolutely great product !!!!
Gedd 15.07.2020
Bought it because I got new jazz cymbals. This case is the best choice ever for local gigs. Easy, sturdy, but also soft to carrying in hand or on your back. For flights I would recommend to choose hard case.
In this Mono case your cymbals are safe. Cymbals are separated in soft departments, also they lay on strong plastic backing integrated in the bottom of this case and never contact ground directly.
BTW it looks awesome :)
