Workstation for acoustic guitarists

With the SD50A, Mooer delivers a versatile guitar amplifier that caters to the diverse needs of acoustic guitarists with its dual channels, 50W power output, and essential effects. Each of the two independently operating channels features a three-band EQ and gain potentiometer, allowing the sound of the acoustic instrument to be adjusted, while the inclusion of phantom power on channel 2 allows the seamless connection and operation of condenser microphones. The integrated looper, combined with a synchronisable drum machine offering 16 grooves, transforms the SD50A into a true jamming machine. The compact combo also boasts ten memory slots, a USB direct recording facility, anti-feedback functions, a built-in tuner, and Bluetooth connectivity for wireless playback.

Easy to operate

As one would expect from a guitar amp, the SD50 is easy to operate. The two channels are distinctly separated on the clear control panel and allow rapid adjustments to match the connected instrument or microphone courtesy of the gain and three-band EQ controls. The two effects sections, which also operate independently, provide each channel with chorus, echo, and reverb. Each channel also features a dedicated feedback killer to automatically detect and eliminate any unwanted feedback. Custom creations can be saved to one of ten memory slots, which can be accessed on the amp itself or via the Mooer AirSwitch footswitch that is included in the scope of delivery. This Bluetooth-enabled switch controls the drum machine and looper, which offers a generous recording time of 150 seconds for capturing new ideas.

A ground/lift switch is also included to suppress any unwanted humming. The Mooer SD50 additionally boasts two USB ports: A micro-USB port for capturing digital recordings of the amplifier's sound and a type B interface for performing firmware updates.

About Mooer

Mooer is based in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and has been making products for guitarists since 2010, which include compact single pedals through to multi-effects units and compact amplifiers. The company initially produced a range of mini pedals before making perhaps its most significant breakthrough in 2016 with the sophisticated Ocean Machine delay pedal, which was designed in collaboration with Devin Townsend. Mooer's product range now also includes solutions that feature amp modelling, IR-based speaker simulation, and matching equalisers, and the company's focus remains firmly on the use of digital technology.

Pure, unadulterated sound

Whether connecting two guitars or other acoustic instruments to the Mooer SD50A in combination with a microphone, the amp will ensure that both signals are accommodated and can be processed individually thanks to its two dedicated and independently operating channels and effects blocks. This setup makes the amp perfect for intimate gigs in a cafe or for sessions which do not require a small PA. Featuring an 8" speaker paired with a 1" tweeter, the amp covers a broad frequency spectrum, from deep bass notes to crystal-clear highs, with exceptional, unadulterated detail, faithfully preserving the authentic sound and character of the connected instrument.

Sounds good and has good features but also has a serious issue
pengipete 25.02.2022
This amp looks the part, feels solid despite being really rather light and sounds great. The wireless pedalboard is great once you get used to it, though it would be even better if it was customisable and if it gave a clue as to what mode you're in. The EQ range is good and the effects are good quality. The choice of drums is far too limited and there's no way to customise them - you also can't set the tempo to BPM, for example. The sound pretty good though and are okay for practice. I wouldn't recommend them for busking - no intro or outro and simply not enough control over them. Sound from the external connections is excellent and the bluetooth connection is fast and reliable so it's perfect for playing along to tracks on a PC or phone. Running an electic guitar through a multifx pedal like a Pod Go into the Aux input gives great results too. The one serious issue I have is that the speaker makes an extremely loud POP from the speaker when you switch it on and it makes no difference if you set the volumes off - it's not just a minor "pop" either - it is LOUD! - like as loud as you could get from this power of amp. I can live with that at home but it would seriously bother me to use it in front of an audience. Overall - I'm happy enough with it and Thomann's price was terrific. If it wasn't for that horrible noise when powered on, it would be perfect.

Irre Gut
Ingolf-G 23.11.2020
Also sollte ein Akustikverstärker her.
Mein erster Versuch:
Fender Acoustasonic 40. - Klingt wie ein Radio in einem Pappkarton
Dann im örtlichen Musikladen verschiedene Amps angespielt.
Fishmann Loudbox Charge
Marshall AS50 D
Boss ACS Live

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lange Vorrede kurzer Sinn: Hier meine Bewertung:

Sound:
Alle Regler auf Mittelstellung und .... Oh was für ein Sound. Heftig.
