Phaser Pedal

Together with the decent phase 90, which was only equipped with a speed controller, the phase 100 is probably THE vintage phaser effect. The classic phasing sounds of the 70s are not a problem, but Eddie Van Halen liked to "spice" his legendary lead sound - especially on the early records - with an MXR phaser

The MXR 100 can be used with a rotary switch to set different waveforms, which allows for more spectacular and modern phasing sounds.

  • 4-Way rotary switch
  • 4 Different intensity levels selectable via 4-way rotary switch
  • Can be operated via a power supply or with a 9V battery
  • Status LED

Favorite phaser for bass
mouth 12.05.2022
I've owned several phasers like Phase 90, Small Stone, multi-effects pedals and boutique stuff like Grand Orbiter and HBE Psilocybe. They're all pretty good on bass, but Phase 100 is the one I always come back to. It's the most unique one (not a single boutique phaser is based on it), and it simply sounds the best on bass guitar to me.

It has a rich, detailed voice that never turns into mud for live application (unlike many dark sounding OTA and Opto phasers), and it absolutely NAILS the "For the Love of Money" tone unlike most other phasers I had. Part of that tonal uniqueness is the fact that it's a 10 stage phaser (6 modulating + 4 fixed). It's very liquidy, and has a bit of flanger-like quality to it as well. In comparison to say Phase 90, it doesn't have the same low mid bump and so I find it more pleasing in the mix and less grating. It works really well with dirt and fuzz pedals, as expected.

I haven't noticed any tonal loss when it's off, even though it's a hardwire bypass and not a true bypass, but I tend to have a good buffer in front of my board and at the very end. You can't really go wrong with MXR phasers in general. Let me just leave with this quote: "Favorite phaser? The orange one."

S
Great Phaser Pedal
Squalshie 11.11.2020
Love the pedal. It sounds great and very simple to use. Surprising the wide range of sounds can be achieved with just two controls. Works really well with some reverb and the MXR Compressor which is also a very good and easy to use pedal. The simplicity may mean it is slightly less versatile than other modulation pedals that offer phaser, flanger, univibe type option, but this pedal gets pretty close. Sound is also crystal clear.

Pédale d'effet phaser Phaser effect pedal
Antoine R. 21.05.2011

The mXR Phase 100 is the big sister of the phase90. The difference is that you can choose the waveform, you have 4 different effects to choose from. IF you are a purist, this will allow you to refine the sound of the effect but you have to change the potentiometer manually between each song if you use different settings. The second potentiometer allows you to adjust the intensity of the effect. It is very progressive, which allows you to be very precise in its adjustment. This pedal comes with 2 sets of differently shaped buttons as well as a small foam pad to stick underneath to prevent it from sliding around on the floor if you don't have a pedalboard. The power supply is 9V, there is no battery supplied with it, so it is better to have a power supply. I used to use a digital pedal board before and I don't regret at all having bought this analog effect, the sound of which is excellent. A very good phaser, quality but as always from MXR.

Sehr gut - Vergleich zu 90 und script 90. Frequenzweg wird weitgehend eingehalten Very good - compared to 90 and script 90. Frequency path is largely maintained
Pascal C. 919 23.08.2013

I was looking for an effect for acoustic guitar. I am particularly referring to the comparison to the 90 and the script 90. The clearest difference: the last two mentioned unfortunately change the frequency path very significantly. They “phase” much more extreme, which is certainly okay for an electric guitar. And it won't be a problem that the bass in particular is significantly increased. With an acoustic guitar you get feedback IMMEDIATELY (as long as there is no feedback buster in the hole). I can't yet pair it with the MXR Micro Amp. The 100 adds no bass, no problem at all. The different settings offer a nice selection, two of them very high-pitched (depending on the phase), the others more moderate. The vibrations are less extreme than the 90s. Definitely the ONLY choice for acoustics.
