Hardware is the stuff you play on and it does not make a noise - ideal scenario that is. Now this definition is certainly funny but lets go a bit more into detail here.
Hardware can be grouped in several sections. Hardware is on one hand the stands or racks that keep the instruments, i.e. toms, snare cymbals etc. in place thus allowing for optimal performance. These parts of the hardware do not move ( at least they should not J). On the other hand we have the moving parts, kick pedals and Hi-Hat.
