Remo has the best tone for what I am looking for in a drum set. Being that my favorite drummer, Dave Weckl, uses these heads I am naturally inclined to use them. This being said, however, I have ear enough to hear which tones I prefer and have found much more pleasure in listening to tones generated from Remo heads than Evans or other brands I have heard. The pinstripe series offers a very full tone with allowance for good "body" of the drum to be heard. I am using these on my maple series Pearl kit with deep tom dimensions and they work out perfect. The tones are steady and do not have that thin ringing sound that I despise. When it comes to mic'ng the drums and playing live, PERFECT! These are good heads to use in combination with an Ambassador clear on the bottom and can also be considered good for covering that "cheap sound" on budget drum kits. A little more costly than a coated or clear head, but definitely worth it.
