A compact home studio monitor system

The Epic 5 is a compact, dual-loudspeaker monitor system which has been developed specifically for use in small spaces and at low volumes. In addition to a tweeter and woofer, each speaker also features a passive radiator, which is located on the underside of the device. This monitor system is characterised by a flat, prominent frequency response and a high dynamic range. Produced to a high level of quality, the Epic 5 features a sophisticated design for outstanding directivity. The signal path, which is purely analogue, reproduces the signal directly and without distortion, and all with just minimal noise. This makes the Epic 5 monitor system an excellent choice for professional music productions in smaller home studios.

Sophisticated design for impressive results

All components used in the Epic 5 have been perfectly matched. Each speaker features a 1" tweeter and a 5.25" woofer, and is equipped with a passive radiator on the underside as part of a bass reflex system. The Epic 5 boasts a frequency response range of 45Hz to 38kHz, exhibiting a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 109db at 100Hz. Volume settings can be made on the front of the device, and the design of the Epic 5 is geared towards achieving a balanced transient and decay response over the entire band width. Two control dials are located at the back of the speakers, which allow adjustment to the acoustics of the room by amplifying or reducing frequencies at 250Hz and 2.5kHz respectively by up to 5dB in increments of 1dB. A balanced XLR socket and an unbalanced cinch socket provide the connection to a signal source.

The perfect choice for small studios

The Epic 5 is ideal for all music producers who have a small recording studio and are looking for a monitor system that will provide high-quality sound reproduction, an astounding frequency response, and a high dynamic range. These characteristics are not only attributable to the purely analogue signal path but also to the specialised production of all individual components developed specifically by the manufacturer for these speakers. In addition, the mechanically aligned timing of the wave fronts guarantees correct oscillation in phase, resulting in an audible improvement in sound quality. The Epic 5 comes in a sturdy transport box, allowing it to be safely transported from studio to studio or taken to mobile production sets.

About reProducer Audio Labs

reProducer Audio Labs was founded in Germany in 2016. The company’s primary area of focus is on developing sonically uncompromising professional studio monitors, with a technical design which aims to achieve the flattest and widest possible frequency response, a rapid transient response, a high dynamic range, and low levels of sound distortion, combined with low inherent noise. The passive radiators included in these models ensure an extended low-end frequency response. In addition to the branch in Germany, reProducer Audio Labs also has offices in the United States and Korea.

Flexible setup for the perfect studio sound

Both monitors are made from aluminium and medium-density fibreboard. Acoustic isolation of the two speakers is provided by eight aluminium feet and twelve silicone pads, all of which are included in the scope of delivery. Any number of feet can be screw mounted to the underside of the two speakers, however, the use of just three feet should reliably prevent the speakers from wobbling. For the perfect response, the two monitors should be arranged at a distance of 0.8m to 1.4m apart and equidistant from the listener to form a stereo triangle. A setup angle of 30° is recommended here.
