Professional pedalboards

The company RockBoard specialises in pedalboards, including accessories, and has been offering a wide range of professional-quality products in this field for many years. RockBoard's portfolio includes pedalboards in various sizes and price ranges, ensuring the right product for every guitarist and bassist. The QUAD 4.3 is a relatively large board designed to accommodate effects pedals over three rows. Like all RockBoard pedalboards, the QUAD 4.3 (available here as a bundle with a matching gig bag) boasts all the features and expansion options of the product line, including a highly robust construction. The key attributes of the RockBoard QUAD 4.3 at a glance: Relatively compact, lightweight, solid, portable, and highly flexible.

A proper home for those pedals

Measuring 820 x 330mm (L x D), the RockBoard QUAD 4.3 provides space for 10 to 20 effects pedals, which can be arranged across three rows and are easily accessed and operated by foot courtesy of the 10° angled board surface. Produced from cold-rolled aluminium sheet, the board's robust yet lightweight (approximately 2.4kg) construction can more than endure the rigours of life on tour. The black powder coating not only looks cool but is also resistant to external influences. A unique feature of the RockBoard pedalboard is the slot system, which allows pedals to be mounted with a single click. The RockBoard QUAD 4.3 also features suitable slots or ports for connecting other accessories, such as power supplies (two slots) and LED lights, and comes in a robust gig bag with sufficient quantities of self-adhesive hook and loop tape.

Creating space and order

As a player's pedal collection increases, so does the tangled weave of power and patch cables, where achieving a neat and space-saving pedal setup seems nigh on impossible. This is where the pedalboard comes in - bringing order to the user's effects pedal arrangement. The necessary power supply can be mounted underneath the board, with "underground" cable routing. The pedals themselves can be securely fastened in parallel using hook and loop tape or the click system. RockBoard's ultra-flat and flexible patch cables will also prove helpful here. The QUAD 4.3 is ideal for guitarists and bassists who own and wish to use multiple pedals, allowing several multi-power supplies to be mounted via slot or on its underside.

Matching accessories

RockBoard not only offers a wide range of pedalboards but also practical accessories and expansion options, including the simple yet ingenious slot system, which allows pedals from renowned manufacturers such as MXR or BOSS to be "clicked" into the corresponding slot on the pedalboard. RockBoard also provides a power supply solution in the form of its proprietary Universal Power Supplies (UPS), which fit into the corresponding slots on the board or can be discreetly attached to the underside. For dark stages, RockBoard offers LED lights which simply screw into the port on the side of the board and are powered via the UPS. Additional accessories include pedal risers and step-ups for elevating one or more pedals, not to mention custom-fit cases and bags for Rockboard's pedalboard range.

Not perfect
ZegIkLekkerNiet 26.12.2021
The board itself is goed. But when used with the options, nothing is really good. The available mods, screws don’t fit. When used with a power supply, plugs are to close to the mod… the led light is to small for most boards. When the led is installed, board doesn’t fit in the case. When the power supply holder is used, the reusable plugs won’t come off,
The supplied Velcro is not enough for the whole board. With little extra attention this could be the perfect board!
I’m happy with my board but there are so many things that could be improved…

Light, sturdy and smart

Bought this for a large, versatile board, where i wanted to keep accessibility to the pedals by going wide instead of large. Construction is light and sturdy and it is very easy to find a hole to pass the cables exactly where needed, to keep the board tidy.

With a Rockboard Mod 1, it is easy to keep all cables tidy even using effects loop, including the power cord for the for the power supply -- either AC cables for typical power supplies or DC cables (such as for the Ojai or Ojai R30).

The Gig Bag is simple and efficient, especially to protect the pedals from dust, for a home/studio use. For gigging, make sure that the pedalboard is transported in a safe place as the padding is light, and the pedals of the back row are not well protected from bumps.

a
Poor Quality Gigbag
amtate 19.12.2023
After only taking this out a few times, I found that the pouch had developed a tear - seemingly because I’d placed an amp lead with plug in there - which to be honest is exactly what a pouch is for!

Then last week the metal zip snapped off with hardly any pressure having been applied.

Be wary as this is a really flimsy product which offers very limited protection for the gear it houses. Although the actual board is ok, all-in-all I’m really disappointed in the quality of this and will be looking for a replacement in the near future.

Fantastic

Use it as my main board.
First of all the weight - I was surprised that this pedalboard was much lighter than it looks. It can be carried around with ease if you don't have any heavy effects.
Second, the durability - the weight gives an impression that it is not sturdy at all - there have been occasions where I have stood on it. Not the best durability test, but it still keeps it's form.
Third, the gig bag - the bag build quality is as good as the boards.

One con would be that it does not come with any power supply mounting solution.
