For podcasts and more

True to its name, the Rode PodMic microphone has been specifically tailored to the requirements of podcasting and other voice-based applications. Its affordable price, great ease of use, and puristic design that dispenses with both switches and phantom power make the Rode PodMic the ideal solution for beginners. The PodMic comes with a pop filter for minimising disruptive plosive sounds, a shock mount for reducing vibrations and, unlike many other broadcast microphones, additional professional features such as an integrated swing mount, a clearly defined frequency range, and a scratch-resistant ceramic coating. Thanks to its robust all-metal build and considerable weight, the PodMic microphone will reliably stay in place and deliver excellent results even under challenging conditions, and a range of matching stands for optimum mic positioning are available separately.

Well-balanced voice capture

Thanks to its frequency range that goes from 20Hz to 20kHz, the professional Rode PodMic captures voices at all frequencies within the normal range of human hearing and delivers a well-balanced, rich sound that is ideal for broadcasting. The PodMic features a dynamic capsule with a cardioid polar pattern, an XLR output for connecting a cable, and an elegant matt black all-metal housing with generous dimensions of 172x109x62mm, which means that this end-address microphone is on the heavier side with a total weight of 937g. The Rode PodMic can not only be variably adjusted to the speaker's height using the built-in swing mount but also flexibly mounted on a wide range of conventional stands thanks to its integrated 5/8" and 3/8" threads.

Easy to use for beginners

The easy-to-use Rode PodMic optimally matches the requirements of beginners who want to take their first steps into podcasting. Its smart combination of essential features, such as a pop filter and a shock mount, as well as its robust dynamic capsule make the PodMic the ideal microphone for news reports and interviews outside of a studio environment. Thanks to its frequency range, which is optised for speech applications, the Rode PodMic also ensures that budding actors and speakers sound their best in online castings. During livestreaming, the integrated swing mount allows the PodMic to be flexibly moved around to create particularly vivid presentations, and during video shoots, ambient noise from the sides and the back is effectively suppressed thanks to the mic's cardioid polar pattern.

About Rode

Founded in Sydney, Australia in 1990, Rode is a specialist in high-quality studio microphones. With its very first in-house, completely Australian-built model, the NT2 large-diaphragm microphone, the company created a classic which is still produced in its current and enhanced version, the NT2-A. An extensive range of studio and live microphones has also been added, regularly updated, and expanded over the years. These new additions include a variety of professional microphones which are designed for video and mobile applications and can be connected directly to SLR cameras or smartphones.

The easy way to podcast

For optimum voice recording, the Rode PodMic should be mounted on an optional microphone stand or studio arm. To this end, users should take a closer look at the Rode PSA-1 boom arm, which creates an authentic broadcast studio setting, or the Rode Tripod, which ensures ideal positioning and stability on a tabletop. Both solutions allow the microphone to be swivelled a full 360 degrees and can be purchased separately. To kick off their first podcast production, all users have to do is connect the PodMic to a mixing console or an audio interface such as the Rode Podcaster Pro using an XLR cable, speak into the microphone, adjust the gain, and turn up the volume.
