The Samyang MKII EF lens set includes six compact models from ultra-wide to telephoto from the VDSLR MKII series for cameras with a Canon EF/EF-S bayonet mount, which is also used on some Blackmagic cameras. Compared to previous models, the upgraded lenses offer 8K resolution and a revised aperture with nine rounded blades for smooth bokeh without visible edges when stopped-down. In addition to stepless aperture adjustment, they are equipped with smooth manual focusing for smooth tracking of focus when shooting video. A Mantona Outdoor Protective Case L with an insert for six lenses is included for transporting the entire set. Each lens is also equipped with a lens hood, a separate storage bag and two protective caps.
The lenses included in the set with focal lengths from 14mm to 135mm are suitable for use on cameras with full-frame and ASP-C sensors. Thanks to high-quality optics including lenses with UMC (Ultra Multi Coating) multi-coating as well as impeccably crafted mechanics, they deliver optimal image results in almost all situations. The aperture and focus ring on all lenses are equipped with a gear ring for the use of a Follow Focus System. The follow-focus system allows for steady, uninterrupted focusing in video recordings, which is not possible or only possible to a limited extent by hand due to repositioning on the lens. The uniform position of the gear ring also makes it easier to change lenses when the follow-focus system is installed.
With the Samyang MKII EF lens set, professional users get six lenses suitable for photography and optimised for videographythat meet the highest standards even on a professional level. All lenses offer the possibility to play with the focus setting and use it creatively and precisely thanks to manual focusing with a quite wide focus travel. Furthermore, due to the revised aperture, each lens allows a soft, circular bokeh with round luminous points in the background for an appealing three-dimensional impression and also razor-sharp images with 18-ray sun stars at a small aperture setting. The lenses also feature a weather seal that protects the delicate gap between the lens and camera mount from dirt and moisture penetration, allowing use in challenging weather conditions.
Samyang is a South Korean company founded in 1972 and has more than 40 years of experience in the manufacture of optical lenses and components for surveillance cameras as well as high-quality camera lenses. Driven by its ambitious goal of creating innovations that are tailored to the needs of its customers, Samyang develops new generations of lenses that allow photographers and filmmakers to share their unique vision with others. The company’s portfolio encompasses various wide-angle, normal, and telephoto lenses for advanced and experienced users as well as numerous useful accessories for the handling and protection of lenses.
The Samyang MKII EF lens set covers a wide range of videography with focal lengths from ultra-wide to telephoto. With this set, all shot sizes from supertotals to detail shots can be realised and with the ultra-wide angle, even smaller interiors can be captured. The 24mm lens in particular, with its maximum aperture of 1.5, offers the opportunity to play with depth of field, while the 14mm lens is especially suited for completely sharp applications. The other lenses all offer a large open aperture, making them suitable for use in dark areas and the targeted use of shallow depth of field. ND filters or polarising filters can be used in a size of 77mm (focal lengths of 24mm / 35mm / 50mm / 135mm) or 72mm (at 85mm). The 14mm lens has no filter thread.
