great value

The old machine heads of my guitar weren't usable anymore and bought this set after some research.

I can honestly say these are more stable, except the D string needs to be turned more before it starts reacting. This could be due to the new strings, only time will tell, but its still usable.

I don't know if I am imagining it but I get the feeling that these also make my guitar sound a bit better than the cheap stock machine heads that it had. maybe its because they are heavier and have more mass.

Totally worthless

Bought this to replace the 20+ years old stock tuners in my Spanish made Azahar as they were falling apart. First impression out of the box, they totally seemed to be generic in appearance but I wouldn't prejudge. Upon installation with the help of a luthier, we first noticed that the tuning panels do not fit identically since the right side was slightly inclined towards the top of the machine head while the other was fine (but this is trivial). Then we realized that the low E tuner worked only one way. After a long time trying to know the reason, the luthier figured that the washer of that tuner has no flat sides where the tuning rod is supposed to cling to (while all the others have this). So we found out that both this washer as well as the whole right panel are not machined properly. We had to use a washer from the old tuners which actually didn't fit easily and needed a lot of work, but did work out eventually and allowed the low E tuner to work both sides. In another scenario if I didn't have another spare washer or if my spare washers didn't fit at all, this item would have been simply in the trash by now (returns are not possible where I live).

With regard to the general performance of this tuner set after installation, these are really no different than any Chinese made tuners. They don't keep the guitar in tune for anytime longer than the old stock ones. Their ratio and feel are also nothing special at all. I totally doubt this is made in Germany as written on the box. For this price I could have got two Gotoh sets or even three generic tuner sets that most likely wouldn't even have these factory mistakes.

Quite expensive, very accurate

Schaller's tuning set solved a problem with a middle priced classic guitar. The worn out machinery was easy to change thou it needed some small adjustment.

Tuning is absolutely easy with an accurate fine mechanical machinery. The difference to the original tuners is huge. That's why I can recommend this product to all who have the same problem with cheap or middle-priced acoustic guitar. - Maybe there are even better Schaller tuners for very valuable instruments...

Good quality replacement machine heads

Bought to replace manufacturer tuners which had started slipping after 7 years. These seem to hold the tension well and were easy to fit.
