Great mic for live performance
Anonymous 29.07.2014
I had been using an SM58 for the last few years, having been told they were the best. However, I always had problems using the SM58, having to keep the volume lowered to avoid feedback and the need to shout rather than sing into it. I was fed up and desperate so searched online and discovered the Sennheiser E835s. Other bandmates discouraged me from buying it as they said it couldn't be any good at that low price...However - I ignored them and purchased this mic. Oh my gosh what a difference this has made to my stage performance. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am! I can have the volume increased with no feedback, just fabulous clear tones without having to overstretch my vocals and no screaming into the mic. Now I can just sing and my voice is heard. Fabulous. What else can I say? Oh, the mic itself is lovely to handle, has a good strong weight, sturdy design and even comes with a little pouch. The bundle from Thomann was an absolutely amazing deal (inc mic stand - good as a spare - and a lead). I highly recommend this mic if you, like me, struggle with the SM58. I think SM58s are great for bassy voices but they don't suit all vocal types. Now I can go on stage feeling stress-free. Love it!

Sennheiser E835 S...
Joel8437 13.06.2016
The E835 is a dynamic mic with a cardioid polar pattern & has a Frequency range between 40 - 16,000 Hz.

feels solid & nice weight in the hand

I bought this E835 S to replace my last one, which i had for years.
I didn't replace it cause anything went wrong, but because it went 'missing'.
i went for the same again because i totally rate it & it never let me down before.
I use it mainly for vocals, live & studio, & I've used it to good effect to mic up guitar amps when short of mic options.

It is often compared to the Shure SM58 equivalent, & it divides opinion, but to my ear i prefer the E835.
trying both alongside each other i found that the E835 needed less gain/volume, & overall had better clarity of tone.
on saying that, the singer of the band i was working for, didn't like it, & preferred to use the SM58, so i guess you should compare.

it has a rugged build & a great sound reproduction.
i can't think of anything negative to say about this mic

i would definitely recommend this mike to anyone looking for a good, inexpensive dynamic mic.

Nice low-voice stage mic
Gegenbeispiel 17.12.2018
I sing btw Bb1and Ab4, do a lot of scat and this is a really nice mic for bebop and scat. It has a nice, quite level frequency response down to around Ab1. It's good on ballads too (I transpose most ballads down by as much as a 4th). Colleagues who sing higher seem OK with it, too. It responds quite well to fast pitch and dynamics changes and matches OK with many keyboard and bass 2nd inputs. It offers quite good off-axis rejection, although you do sometimes get feedback.

Overall, I am happier with it than using an SM58 and asking the sound eng. to reduce the midrange pots by 5db (to flatten its frequency response).

Solid, durable workhorse
WillO 19.06.2013
Cheaper than the SM57/58, requires a little less gain, gets similar results. I've gotten great results recording guitar amps, snare and cajon. They also work fine on stage for vocals, snare etc. Durable, too. Mine have been dropped, knocked, hit, spit and stood on, and they work perfectly. The on/off switch comes in handy sometimes, too (I use one of these as a talkback mic in my small recording studio, it's handy to be able to switch it off when the client is recording a take). If this is the sort of mic you're looking for, it'll probably do the job.

NV
amazing mic

Just an allround perfect microphone, great quality, has some nice weight to it and feels very sturdy
The sound is great too, it's brighter then the standard sm58, but not harsh in any way.
It's not too sibilant and also not very sensitive to pops, Would definately recommend this microphone to anyone and everyone.

Versatil and clear
RWaal 16.07.2018
As a DJ, you need a microphone. My old one was very sensitive, so when you passed it to someone else, you would hear some ugly low golping frequencies. This one doesn't. It is clear and quiet. Feels good and looks good. I like the black head of the microphone, looks tinier to me than the silver one I had.

Great for recording guitar
Anonymous 26.07.2016
I picked up this mic as I wanted to start recording at home. After browsing reviews this one seemed to be highly recommended but not that widely reviewed. Due to a sale I made the jump for this over the more expensive SM57 and boy am I happy.

Now even though this is my first time personally recording myself I have been involved in it many times with bands and such. I can honestly hear no remarkable difference between this and the SM57. It just gives a great sound and really picks up the tone of your amp with little to no colouration on the signal.

Its a sturdy metal stick that comes in a nice foam padded case. I'll definitely be picking up more and will also be trying it out on other instruments and vocals in future to see it's full range
