Skoove Subscription 6 Months

I purchased this subscription as an add-on for my daughter along with a keyboard and the overall package is excellent. I'm something of a beginner on the keyboard myself, although I've been playing with bands and orchestras for years. So, I have been using this to get to grips with the basics and to get myself to a basic level of proficiency, and to be able to talk the language of keyboard players. I've found the application to be extremely easy to use. There are two modes: you can learn basics with an on-screen keyboard, excellent for remote or casual learning; otherwise, you can use it side-by-side with the keyboard/piano. It literally listens to what you are playing, tells you in a simple step by step fashion what to play, and tells you where and if you go wrong. You can easily repeat until you get it right. It's a superb alternative to lessons with a tutor beside you, and it's at your own pace. The user experience is just superb. Highly recommended.

I learned to sight read music 20 years ago but needed a huge refresher. However, I only learned the treble clef back in the day, not the bass clef, and the piano uses both.

Skoove doesn't advertise that it has an Android app version, but I found it by accident, and find this program most useful when I use the app and the online version in conjunction with one another. The app shows some of the finger numbers above or below the notes on the stave, which is really useful to get used to which key correlates to which note, whereas the online version doesn't, so you're trying to learn the keys on the piano and to sight read music at the same time instead of being helped out with one thing so you can concentrate on the other.

It has a music theory lesson, but again, it only deals with 5 notes on the treble clef stave and doesn't bother with the bass clef, so it's not overly helpful.

I'm a few weeks in, and I'm getting on quite well, however, I am not a beginner musician having played the guitar for 30 years, so I have some degree of musical ability and knowledge. I would have to say that if I didn't use the app in conjunction with the online version I probably would have lost patience with it by now because it expects you to sight read music from the get go.

I don't know that I will bother renewing and paying for a further subscription once the 6 months is over, but it's been somewhat useful to get me into it.

Um weitere Kurse, Angebote, Noten, nutzen zu können, muss man ein Abo abschließen. Das geht auf „Skoove“ direkt für einen Monat und kostet 19,99 €. Billiger wird es für ein vierteljährliches Arrangement (39,99 €, d.h. monatlich 13,33€) oder ein Jahresabo für 119,99 (im Monat 9,99).

Für ein halbes Jahr gibt es kein Angebot, doch das kann man bei Thomann in den Einkaufskorb legen, Es kostet 69 Euro, d.h. 11,50 € pro Monat und hat den Vorteil, dass man seine „Bankdaten“ bei Thomann hinterlässt und nicht bei einem Drittanbieter.

Systemanforderungen und viele weitere von Nutzern oft gestellte Fragen findet man unter FAQs auf der Skoove Seite. Das Login per Mail funktioniert reibungslos, das Programm läuft stabil.

Kursangebote gibt es für Anfänger und Fortgeschrittene. Kleinschrittig und inklusive handlich aufbereitete Portionen Musiktheorie geht es voran und der Erfolg, dass man erste Stücke erkennbar spielen kann, stellt sich rasch ein.

Die Kurse sind ansprechend aufgemacht. Auf einer eingeblendeten Tastatur spielt eine Klavierlehrerhand und bei einigen Segmenten läuft ein Balken mit, um die Noten besser verfolgen zu können. Falsch gespielte Noten werden rot angezeigt,

Eingeblendete Tipps in einer Art Comicblase erinnern an die Handhaltung, die Notenlänge und ähnliches.

Anfangs werden einige Stücke nur in kurzen Sequenzen eingeführt, später erfolgt der weitere Ausbau. In einer Songliste mit fast 100 Stücken (von Kinderliedern, Klassik, Pop,…) für Einsteiger kann man sich die Sachen nach Lust und Laune und Spielvermögen aussuche. Auch dort gibt es für jeden Song eine Anleitung, d.h. das Lied wird vorgespielt (Ton und die eingeblendete Tastatur für den visuellen Eindruck), rechte und linke Hand werden zunächst getrennt geübt, danach langsam im eigenen Tempo und als letzten Schritt mit Begleitung von Skoove im exakten Tempo. Manchmal sind die Kommentare des Programms sogar humorvoll, z.B. deine Bandkollegen sind Profis… Und Mutmachend: Das klingt schon gut. Klick auf „Weiter“ wenn du so weit bist.

Danach geht es mit Angeboten für Fortgeschrittene weiter.

Theorie und Praxis, Notenlehre, Akkorde, Komponieren, Improvisieren in verschiedenen Lehrgängen, Weihnachtslieder, Filmmusik, … sind weitere Kurse in unterschiedlichen Lektionen. Das Angebot wird ständig erweitert.
