a nice tool to have

So it really does what is supposed to do.
The way that dampens the overtones is truly amazing because it doesn't stick on your drum head, and that gives air and room to your drum head, so it can enhance its attack instead of "adding mud" to its sound.

The only con I can find is that it will fit my die-cast snare or tom hoop, but unfortunately I can't seem to be able to fit it on any triple flanged hoop, which is a huge con for me but not a dealbreaker since I primarily use it on a die-cast snare.

The leathers quality is perfect, but that means that at first it will not be that flexible to deal with so positioning it, will be a bit tricky the first few days, since it needs more tweaking to get the magnets to stay in place. After 3 months of using this product all the time on my snare, although the leather became really flexible it still needs tweaking in order to stay flat. If you keep it folded for some hours it will stay in that position, even if you separate the magnets, making it impossible to firmly sit on the drum head without taking out and force fold it the other way. Now to be fair, although it seems like a con, it's not. I bet in time that the leather will completely soften up and will get more flexible like all leather products do.

A Sceptic Is Convinced

I have to admit I was a bit sceptical of this product. Over the years I've used all sorts of dampeners, from the internal tone controls of older drums through gaffer tape to moon gels and they all have their advantages/disadvantages. Thought I'd try the M1, not expecting much, and I'm really impressed. They seem to hit the sweet spot in giving the right amount of control of overtones, both on snares and toms. Nice adjustment options to enable you to dial in the setting that's right for you. Really useful in the studio. I recommend these as well as their bigger brother the M80.

Great Solution

I use it on a 14" x 5.5" Yamaha snare and it removes just the right amount of overtones without overdoing it. No need for sticky gaffer tape or gels. You can vary the amount of dampening or hinge it back altogether with removing it to open up the sound fully. IT fit on the rim of my snare perfectly and securely - no chance of it moving or slipping off. Nothing much to not like about this product - the price is great too. Recommended!

Great one

I have the wasabi green model too. The perfect damper for main snare drums. You have three options in one simple device. The magnets are strong enough to keep it in the right position you put it, but since the leather is a bit thick and not so flexible, to keep it's form straight, always leave it on the top head with both ends on the drum head. It needs some time to adjust all forms you force it to stay. Clamping to the hoop is a bit of a chalange for some thick hoops like the dw True Hoops. But once it's done it stays firm on the hoop. And I see no reason to remove it. And this is the perfect colour for the Aquarian Vintage/Evans Calftone yelowish heads.
