I have started using another stand but still have this sitting in the music room with another instrument on it. It is a very good stand, but I got a better one when I walked into a sale. This Stagg stand is very good though! The only thing is you need to close the holder around the neck of the violin. My new stand closes around the neck of the violin when you hang it up. I still own this one and use it from time to time and that says enough.

Suitable for Mandolin as well
Λίλα 16.10.2020
I purchased it as a mandolin stand. it fits perfectly.
Pros:
* quite steady for its price
* May be used as both a mandolin stand and a violin stand
* has soft material like sponge on all the places the instruments touches it (it does not scratch it)
* adjustable height
* the bow "hanger" is adjustable as well
* good price
Cons:
* its base does not fold, takes up more space than would be expected when stored

It's very compact. I use it for yamaha sv 255(?) So size fits but I'm not feeling safe when i lift it with violin. The quity could be better. Rubber very very soft and after 30 min violin sitting you can see deep sign in it.

Good mandolin stand
JohnnyGuitar 19.06.2017
I use this for a mandolin and it is a stable and secure stand. The neck and body rest on the typical foam you find on many stands.
Pros:
- Cheap
- The neck rest is also secured at the front side so your instrument won't fall out if somebody bumps into it
- Sturdy, good materials
Cons:
- Neck rest tends to move (rotate) slightly to the right when tightening the screw
- The "locking bar" on the front side of the neck rest is not horizontal but slightly angled. In other words, it is not exactly level with the floor.
These cons are aesthetic. The stand is 100% functional. If you really want perfect looks, you might want to consider another stand. Otherwise this is a really good deal.
