Great way to run cable looms over Cat 5
Broadwood Music Productions 18.08.2020
I was looking for a simple way to run auxiliary XLR cables between control room and live room so instead of getting a stage box for a fixed solution I decided to explore the option of using Cat 5 cable to run multiple signals. I purchased both the female and male XLR versions of the Ssnake Cable splitter as it was by far cheaper than other well known brands and I'm please to report the build quality and usability is great. I just run the Cat 5 as a permanent install terminated with RJ45 connectors and just connect these in the appropriate rooms and you have 4 XLR's available to you. What's more you are not limited to which gender you have per room, simply unplug and swap ends.

ethercon lock is oriented to side where the casing is, so unpluging of cable is an issue. I would suggest to get rid of casing offset around ethercon, also xlr connectors are cheap and may be a source of problems when using very often. if it is for instalation there should be no problem.

using as an 4 way multicore looking to be good, and as we all have bunch of ehternet cables laying around it is a great possibility to use them.

Great for multiple things!
heyimdan-dan 26.09.2023
I used this piece of kit for getting L/R and sub audio up to a truss frame that had been built over a ring for a boxing event. Since it's impractical to run cables around the ring, the best thing to do seemed to run a single Cat5e cable up into the roof space and down into the truss frame.

On the fourth spare channel I sent up some DMX data. I wasn't sure if the DMX and audio would transfer together uninterrupted, but it worked perfectly. In fact, it performed better than any of the fighters that night!

Less bulk
Hepcat McSwing 22.06.2021
Snakes can be bulky things. These are quite the opposite. Compact, light and flexible. The cat5 cable handles much better than thick multicable. Love these things. Hope they appear to be very well-made and roadworthy.
