Useful little mic
SteveR 19.06.2013
I bought this with half an idea that it might be useful for clipping on to an instrument, as this is mentioned in the product description. In particular, I was thinking of using it on a saxophone. While this can be done, the mic is relatively large - not for a standard mic, such as an SM58, but for a clip-on instrument mic.

This makes the CC75 somewhat more intrusive that you might like for this type of use. The clip is sturdy enough and the mic stays in place on the instrument, although it might slip if you're one of those players that moves around a lot.

Performance is reasonable for the price, and the clip does mean you can locate it in places where a mic stand might be problematic.

Don't forget that this mic needs phantom power!

Summary: Good value, practical mic for situations where a mic stand might not be appropriate.

GM
clip around the ear..
Graham M. 15.05.2013
i play the bodhran (irish drum) although the clip on this mic is a bit flimsy i couldn't clip it onto the rim of the drum as it kept slipping off as with playing this drum you would move around quite a bit, sound quality of the mic itself is fantastic and in my opinion better than some leading brands on the market. unfortunately the clip lets it down, although for me i found a way around that problem by taking the clip apart and using the the parts (screws) bolted this mic permanently to my bodhran and i'am more than happy with this product. conclusion come on t.bone for such a good quality mic sort the clip out!
still 10 out of 10 for sound quality.

G
Sounds okay -issues-mediocrity
Gearmode 20.02.2019
My initial review was far more glowing as it sounds acceptable. Sadly I have to update. Mechanical transfer noise is high. I made a number of modifications to quiet. The spring on the clip in my opinion was too weak, I replaced with a stronger one. But these were all solvable issues. The problem I last experienced was noise, a hum. I moved it around, both cable and mic, to different positions but it persisted. Mic appears susceptible to electrical interference. I believe if I play with it I could get it to simmer down. To conclude, I will not be shocked if I never use this mic, too finicky. My confidence is just not there. I would recommend you spend more because this is pretty much a toy wanna-be mic. My apologies to Thomann as I do own other products they sell and they are fine. But this one, not so much.

M
Cheap but very good
Maximilian16 09.02.2022
I bought this microphone to have a spare mic for my trumpet, is very cheap but I was impressed with the quality. I don't recommend this mic for recording session but for rehearsal or live shows.
