Not the real thing
pumpal 23.01.2020
In 1:1 comparison with the real 57, sound-wise it's Okeish (with hyped highs, most likely due to the lack of a transformer) but the problem I got with this mic was that the directionality of it was very poor. Trying to mic a snare, It was capturing so much extra sound that it was not just " bleeding" - the result was more like of what you would get with a condenser.. I guess for an amp it can still work good though.

B
classic sound for low budget
BastianN 12.02.2014
Very fast after buying my first microphone i realized that it is not ideal to use a big condenser mic for home recording in front of the cabinet in my living room.
After listening to a bunch of soundfiles at thomann.de and youtube i decided to buy the mb 75.
Since that day i recorded a lot of stuff with the MB 75 and got a lot of experience with it.
The basic functionality is very easy to use. You need no phatom power or anything... just plug it in and you get sound out of it. Especially in front of a guitar speaker it is sometimes a bit of a mess to find the right spot to get the sound you are looking for.
A few cm can ruin everything. But when you found the right spot it sounds really nice and smooth. If you want to you can catch very trebly sounds. And especially for gain sounds it creates nice sounds that fit perfectly in the mix.

The quality could be a bit better. It doesn't feel nicely and i would handle to brutally with it. For home use, studio it might be perfect. Maybe for the stage you should choose an other one.

Great sound but build quality is not the best
Kjartan 26.08.2020
I only got to test the mic on a couple of occasions and it sounded really good for the money I paid. It however did not survive a short fall from about a snares height onto a carpet.

It's not that good, but for the price I think it's hard to find something better.

Sine the real thing is a relatively cheap mic, buy the original SM57!

You get what you pay for

Not my best sounding mic... :)
It is also very far from the SM57 in all aspects. But depending what you want to use it for, it could still deliver. And the price is unbeatable...

Good value
David6599 11.10.2016
I got this to compare with an SM57 ? and it's not bad, especially at the price.

The top end is rather harsh, and the pick-up pattern seems rather unforgiving, but overall it's a decent enough microphone.

It's not a Shure, but it's very useable and cheap ... and the sound is not as cheap as you might imagine!

MB 57

Copy of an Shure m57 good for the price but nothing will compare to the real thing. But for starting up of spares it's a well made mic and sounds good.

Decent for a cheap mic
Lee D. 27.01.2014
This mic is a bit flimsy - particularly the capsule cover - but overall decent enough for a live mic. In terms of recording I'd rather go for the Superlux PRA 628 Mk II, because it's richer in the mids and low end, whereas seems is a bit fizzy with a bit of an upper-mid spike thrown in for good measure.
