Unfortunately I purchased this 7 bowl set for myself for Christmas. It sat under my tree for 3 weeks until I could open them on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, a kid broke my B bowl straight away. It literally toppled over and hit the floor (quite gently though) and it cracked. I was devasted, but thought to myself that I would just need to bite the bullet and buy a spare B bowl. Being the smallest of the set, I was quite pleased I would not have to spend lots and lots of money. But I was wrong.
First of all, a replacement B bowl doesn’t exist. The replacement they offered was purple and a bigger bowl (8inch instead of the 6inch I needed), for just under £160. £160? I paid £507 for 7 bowls, including a massive C one. I was shocked and could not justify replacing the smallest bowl for nearly £160.
Unfortunately I wish I could have bought my replacement directly from Thomann as I would feel the price would have been fair and the quality of the bowls would be the same. I had to purchase it from another website for £85 and I’m hoping they will be the same.
These are very fragile, so be careful, because you won’t be able to replace the B with Thomann.
The F bowl is slightly sharp (I would say approximately 10% sharp). The others were perfectly tuned. If you have perfect tone hearing like I do it does become a bit bothersome. But for the general public I appreciate a slightly sharp F won’t cause too much trouble.
There isn’t a separate cover protector for the bigger bowl, so you will need to keep it inside the actual carry case if you wanted to keep it safe. The other bowls have their own separate casings, which is handy, as you can just place them inside each individual case, if you just need them protected but no moved about.
The bowls are of good quality though.
