I bought the Thomann Cuatro Puerto Rico Advanced to replace my old cuatro. This particular instrument intrigued me because of the floating bridge/tailpiece construction. The Thomann cuatro is thus more like some of the earliest cuatros made in Puerto Rico and you just don't see this type very often today.
The instrument arrived to me overseas in perfect condition. The action is suitably low and the neck is very playable. For a modest price this is a good sounding cuatro. The instrument is lightweight and plenty loud. I used 'nut sauce' lubricant at the nut and bridge and it tunes smoothly and holds its tune well.
If you play acoustic guitar you will find that the Puerto Rican cuatro is a fun instrument to add to your arsenal with unique and interesting timbres to explore, whether for its traditional repertoire or any other style of music.
