I purchased this TR 4000S along with a TR 500 s in order that we could compare them to see which might be most suitable for our youth marching band. (Kids from 8 to about 16 years)

The TR 4000 S seems well made especially bearing in mind the price. The tone is good and valve response seems fine. Reverse lead pipe is an interesting feature as are the hexagonal valve caps and buttons. This makes it an attractive looking instrument. The case is also well proportioned.

We found that adults and the older kids preferred this instrument to the TR 500 ( perhaps the slightly bigger bell and response in the upper register was influential) whilst the younger players preferred the less expensive trumpet.

Overall a very nice instrument for the price although we have opted to buy a quantity of TR 500's on price grounds, the balance of the trumpet and because of the preference of our younger membership
