This horn is a winner! As a performing jazz musician and educator, I was looking for a reasonably priced backup trumpet that was good enough to play on stage. To my surprise, this beautiful Thomann TR-800L truly exceeds my expectations.
At $450 with shipping to the USA, this large bore gold lacquer horn arrived in just a couple days shipped from Germany. Upon opening the case, I was amazed at the impressive design and superb build quality of this instrument. With a hand-hammered one-piece bell, super smooth and fast Monel valves, and precision craftsmanship throughout, I was amazed at the world-class quality at this price point.
This Thomann trumpet plays on par with professional horns. The look and sound quality is so close to my Schilke B3 trumpet it is remarkable. This is a very versatile trumpet with a rich tone and very precise intonation top to bottom. I can go from a dark and intimate ballad horn to an altissimo screamer with just a simple change of mouthpieces.
