I am a musician and Sound Therapist and I had toyed with buying one of Thomann’s wind gongs for over a year. Buying a gong unseen and unheard is taking a risk, doubly so if it is to be used with an established set up, and I already owned a number of gongs of various makes and types, from a 9” Burmese to a 28” Chao.

I’m pleased to report that the new addition didn’t disappoint. As with all new instruments it took time to get to know it: how to accentuate the fundamental or produce a shimmering wash, or to find its numerous sweet spots. The beater supplied with it is workmanlike and quite usable but switching to something larger and softer like a pair of Chalklin MS27M allows the full spectrum to develop, from dark dissonances to clearly singing harmonics.

I’ve now spent many hours playing it and I’m very happy with its voice and character and more especially how it sits with my set up. It’s clearly not a Paiste, but I think you’d be hard pushed to do better at the price.

Another great wind gong

This is a lovely wind gong and works so well in tandem with my larger (36") wind gong. They really provide a kind of 'light and dark" when played together. It also makes a great "walking gong" and I've used it while walking around a group of about 100 people. It's light enough that it doesn't become tiring to do so. The price is fantastic too. :-)

Powerful

The sound and workmanship on this Gong is first class. It is not too heavy and can be carried although not for too long. Easily found the spot on the Gong that seems to sing louder and will be ideal for use in a Sound Therapy session alongside my other instruments.

This is the most amazing thing I've ever bought :D

So I work in a trading and investment company and the sales staff needed a gong to hit every time they close a deal. They have worked in several companies and branches before and as soon as this gong arrived and they hit it the first time they were all astonished by how amazing the sound is. Now everyone tries to hit it even harder to produce an exceptional sound. It really sounds amazing, better than any Gong I've ever heard and it is very heavy duty lol. We even took a video and sent it to the other branches to tease them. It arrived in mint condition in a perfect package. 5 star rating all the way!
