Great for pop, rock and even heavier styles
Adrian866 08.06.2017
Obviously a drummer's choice of sticks is a very personal thing, so what might suit one may not suit another, and any review is bound to be extremely subjective. But here goes...

What I like about these sticks:

1. Additional length, as I've always preferred 16.5" rather than the standard 16".

2. Size: Vater's 5A sits roughly halfway between Vic Firth's 5A and 5B sizes, so tit's ideal for those who find the VF 5A too thick and their 5B a bit too chunky.

3. Bead tip and shorter taper gives the stick more power without it feeling heavy. (I don't agree with some other reviews that say that this is a heavy stick. It's not, in my opinion.)

As for sturdiness and its ability to hold up to heavy playing and lots of rimshots, I find the Vater 5A Power holds up well, even though the wood doesn't look or feel as solid as, say, Vic Firth's American Classics, and I find theor longevity as good as any other sticks from other manufacturers. I've knocked off one star for quality as they don't look particularly appealing out of the packet. Does this matter? No, not really, they're good sticks.

Finally, I think they are good value for money at less than EUR 10 (excl VAT).

The perfect stick.
Anonymous 27.12.2016
I have found the perfect stick for my preference.

It has a great intermediate weight, a bit of the heavier side, but not as beefy as a 5B or 2B. Enough to hit a cymbal with ease but not too much so you find your cymbal rebounding onto the tip of the stick. Perfect weight for any type of rock.

The thickness is one of the reasons I highly like this stick, it is not too cumbersome and thick, though it is great for a nice sturdy grip. Not too thin and not too thick.

The length is pretty much like a lot of other sticks, I don't find myself reaching for anything, even though I keep my cymbals a bit further away.

The tip is great, I think round tips are always better than acorn shaped tips.

The tip and the stick overall has great definition on all cymbals, and it makes your ride sound amazing.

Will never use another stick, this one is a happy medium in all sticks and you can use it for anything.

Nice length and feel

These are a bit heavier and since I'm a beginner I can't say much more. I check the specs of signature drum sticks by my favorite drummers and choose these because they sort of match the specs of heavier drum sticks used by some of the pros.

A good stick but a little heavy
Anonymous 25.10.2016
These are a great quality stick but they are a little on the heavy side. They are longer than usual which I like.
It depends on your type of drumming style, if you like to drum hard hitting and punchy then these will suit perfectly, great for big venues. On the other hand if you are doing work on the pad or more intricate work they are a little clumsy and don't respond as well, in my opinion.
There is so much choice for sticks these days, you cant go much wrong with these though and they're not a bad price either.
