I bought these as I was looking for something like a 7A stick but with a bit more length and weight to it.
Before these I used Neil Perts signature Oak sticks from Promark for years and got used to the weight so using regular 7A sticks always felt weird, almost like drumming with balloons or sticks made of paper or something. Transitioning to these was no problem though - the extra length makes them feel a lot heavier.
They used to feel like the perfect balance between weight and reach. Not to heavy, so your stamina will last longer, while still having weight enough to give you adequate impact force for heavy hits when needed.
The extra reach compared to a 7A might not seem much but does quite a lot.
I've been using them for about a year or so but must admit that I recently started feeling they where to long. I kept hitting my kit element beyond the intended point of impact and had issues adjusting the kit to compensate for it without feeling awkward.
I'm very tall, which might factor in here.
Despite that, I consider these one of my all-time favorite sticks and always keep a pair or two around.

My stick of Choice
Wayne A. 08.10.2018
I've been using 8D for 18 years. Got my first pair in error thinking they were 5A's, because of the length. Of all the stick i've tried over the years I always go back to 8D's with promark grip tape. I'm a very heavy hitter, I play in a pink floyd tribute band so these sticks get tested and they can last upto 8 gig's. Don't think i'll ever try anything else. :)
Pro's - length, thin, good tip and taper.
Con's - if you like a rim shot, then these won't last very long.

Lightweight, fast and durable

I highly recommend these sticks to many of my students, particularly those with smaller hands. They are very similar to the Vic Firth 7a model but with a little more reach.
I have played a variety of sticks over the years but Vic Firth are always paired and balanced perfectly. The wood has excellent durability and outlives many other manufacturers. The tip is great for articulating your drum sound and precise cymbal patterns. Not the most powerful stick but great for small gigs, recordings and precision playing.

Awesome Sticks

Long, light and thin, they're perfect if you're not a brute. The wood feels nice and very durable. I've used them for about 3-4 years and have gone through one pair only.
