Excellent tool for practicing, with some minor ergonomical issues
StoningRolls 04.07.2021
I bought the Vox Amplug 2 looking for a way to practice in a manner that is as lightweight and hassle-free as possible: minimum number of cables/equipment; just plug and play.

This is literally it; plug and play.

I keep my headphones connected to this Vox at all times, and all I have to do to start playing is plug it into the guitar. That's it. Top marks for ease-of-use regarding getting started.

The sound quality is excellent; even better than I expected. After you spend some minutes tweaking it to your liking, you're in sound heaven.

Where things could be improved is the way you change the settings. If you only play in one style, this won't affect you. You set it once, and it remembers the setting even after power down. This is excellent. However, if you need to switch, say, from overdrive to clean, or – especially – from chorus to reverb, then you're in trouble. You definitely can't do that mid-song. You need to stop playing, turn the guitar around, and fumble with the controls. Not ideal, but it is what it is.

All in all, however, it's excellent for the price. I'd buy again!

UC
Simply fantastic and works with Uke as well
Ukulele Clown 15.12.2021
Bought this to use on my Fender Uke Strat electro acoustic. Was a bit apprehensious at first as to what the sound would be like on the headphones (or connected to a speaker) with a Uke instead of a guitar... but as soon as I plugged it in and played with the different modes and settings, I couldn’t stop smiling. I am pretty much a beginner so imagine what a better player could do with it! A very versatile little device that compliments the Uke’s original sound or with a few setting tweaks can give it that raw electric guitar sound.

JJ
Love this Buddy more than Brian May!

Vox Amplug 2 Classic Rock is a very user-friendly and handy: plug it in and you can play it anywhere through the headphones output and take pleasure of a Vox amplifier with this buddy.
There are no need for speakers because the unit is really small and convenient, but it will always make you ready to rock! Also, it has an Aux input for your sound files, allowing you to play along.

The sound is INCREDIBLY cool. Crispy and same to a Vox classic rock distortion. There are only three sound settings: volume, tone and drive. The first time I tested it, when I received it from Thomann, I JUST SMILED! (GRIN)
Perfect for any classic rock songs, alternative, indie, gospel, etc. If you set the Drive to upper levels you'll be getting some kind of a fuzzy sound which would suit to distorted bluesy thing, I'm using a Yamaha Strat Type and the sound of P90 pick ups are perfect match for this, or simply Vox had this one perfectly. Lowering the Drive gives you a great lightly-crunch tone to play along with clearer and fuzz to your guitar tones. I just love the sound and use it a lot for practicing and also for recording.

Thumbs up for Thomann, for delivering this item along with my other items for only few days here in Middle East :)

I liked this little amplug immediately. A conviant solution for those who like to practice without to bother others. It has a nice sound, different settings and some effects; chorus, delay and reverb. I recommend it strongly.
