Great as usual

No need to comment on sound quality, it has been done to the death, and this is the section of the five stars reviews. Just a little reminder is needed, artificial bone sounds a little bit brighter than natural bone but the variance is so very small there is no reason to prefer one over the other, tone-wise.

Other differences in wood, strings, pickup, etc will do much more change to the tone. So why pick Tusq? Among other reasons, because it does not absord oil, unlike bone, so a droplet of lube won't sip inside of it and leave a long-lasting stain.

That's for the material; the sculpted thing itself has the right string spacing, the outer strings are about 3mm away from the neck edge, as they should. Fingers rest naturally on the strings, and don't feel to tight of too spread out.

Finally, the extra height was easily sanded down, and the extra thickness even faster because only a fraction of a millimeter was to be removed. The extra length was just as minimal. The slots are well-shaped, not too wide or too narrow so there is no string ringing between the string and tuner when playing an open string.

Compared to oversize bone blanks that have to be cut several times and sanded for a long time, creating lots of bone dust, this is a nice relief. Also, there is always a risk of making the smaller slots too wide, so the pre-formed nut is so much more convenient. Five stars and recommended.

If your guitar needs a new nut for any reason may as well put a graph tech on they are as good as bone with the bonus that the strings wont get bound up in the slots. You may need to adjust the outside slots for the radius of your board plus its common to have to sand down the width on each side to fit the width of the neck as well once tweaked its great.

It's TUSQ, which doesn't need more introduction, sounds great and it's extremely durable. Just make sure to take your time to check whether you need flat bottom or radius...

Fits great with a little sanding and does what it should, helps hold tune by self lubricating.
