Waves SSL 4000 Collection

This collection from waves is Possibly the finest plug that I used to mix with to date. it adds space, depth and warmth to everything I have mixed thus far.
As soon as I got the licences through from Waves I was up and running.
The compressor on the E Channel is very handy and easily dialed in, as is the on board gate/expander. There is an input and output gain controls and a phase switch. Sweepable high, and low pass filters, along with sweepable high, high/mid, low/mid, and low filters make for a powerfull EQ all in the same plug. Adjustable Q on the mid filters, and bell or shelf settings on the high and low filters make it even more usefull. The G Channel is more or less the same setup, with a much cleaner, un-colored sound. The SSL Master bus comp is included and is a fantastic sounding compressor on anything you throw at it.

Very useful plugin. The channel strip has one of the best compressor I've ever used before. Easy to dial sound that exactly needed. No more searching and tweaking for a hours, I can get the sound within a couple minutes.
It's also has very good presets from famous mixing engineers , this is smart and useful too.
The plugin adds some depth and punch to the mix right out of the box so you can make your mix sound better just by adding it to each channel and to the master track.

Der SSL4000 hat meine übliche Kette aus bordeigenen Kompressoren und EQs in Logic komplett abgelöst.

Die Bedienung ist eine Umstellung und es empfiehlt sich Tutorials im Netz anzuschauen.
Ich empfinde den Klang als angenehm und auch mit extremen Einstellungen klingt das Ergebnis - nie kaputt. Man kann den Sound gut verändern - ich würde sagen man kann ihn sehr gut bearbeiten, aber niemals kaputt biegen, was mir mit anderen EQs und Compressoren ab und zu passiert ist.
Man lernt sich mehr auf seine Ohren zu verlassen: Man ändert die Parameter und hört und schaut nicht auf einen Frequency Ananlyser.

Die mitgelieferten Presets sind gute Ausgangspunkte und alle brauchbar.

Eine absolute Kaufempfehlung.

Nachtrag:
Nach über einem Jahr muss, muss ich das Produkt leider nochmal deutlich abwerten. Nach einem Jahr erhält man von Waves Audio die Email mit der Benachrichtigung, dass der Waves Update Plan expires. Das heiß man bekommt keine Updates - ist noch zu verschmerzen. Allerdings wollte ich testweise von MAc auf Windows umsteigen, was bei allen anderen Plugins kein Problem war. iZotope, XLN Audio erlauben eine Installation auf zwei Rechnern ohne gleichzeitige Benutzung - perfekt für den Umstieg und paralleles Testen zu meiner Produktionsumgebung.
Nur bei Waves geht das nach einem Jahr nicht mehr - man kann anscheinend nur innerhalb dieses ersten Jahres einen anderen oder (?) zweiten Rechner lizensieren. Danach muss man den Update Plan für 50$ erneuern. ... meine nächsten Plugin werden definitiv nicht mehr aus dem Hause Waves kommen.

2. Nachtrag:
Jetzt steht beim Mac das Upgrade auf Big Sur an. Die Wave Plugins der Version V11 werden nicht unterstützt.
Wenn ich also das Plugin in meinen bisherigen Projekten benutzen will, muss ich 54$ bezahlen oder bei Catalina bleiben.
Bei Waves muss man also ständig jedes Jahr neu bezahlen, da es sonst passieren kann, dass man nach einem Jahr eine Haufen Software-Schrott hat. <-> ein Abo-System durch die Hintertür. Für mich nicht akzeptabel!
