It feels and behaves like a nylon-strung guitar, as it is. I play folk fingerstyle on steel and nylon electroacoustic normal guitars, so it has a place with my regular collection. The setup is classic Yamaha accurate - precise and built for discerning musicians.
Pros: it's a proper guitar for practice that sounds good through earphones or amplified.
Cons: only being slightly picky, but the limitation to just one microphone emulation narrows things, but I use my Yamaha THR5A practice amp/preamp (obviously through headphones if I want to be quiet) and then it genuinely rocks sonically.
Conclusion: this is a very good silent practice guitar, that actually plugged and loud (like through the THR5 and perhaps onwards to something louder) is right up there as a good stage instrument. I really, really like it.

Amazing guitar

This thing sounds as close to a real acoustic concert guitar as you could possibly imagine a purely electronic instrument sounding. It's truly breathtaking and has to be experienced to be believed. For the most stunning effect, use a decent pair of headphones.

all other people are suggesting this guitar for his main feature: silent. so can be used for practice all night long. i would suggest this guitar for the opposite reason. his sound. so dynamic, so warm it's amazing. Yamaha did a very great job with his modeling software, and the qualityof the sound is very close to other much costly brands. only problem with this, is the strap locks that are used also to keep the frame in place. unfortunately they tent to unscrew themselves.

Je me suis offert cette guitare car je n'avais pas de guitare nylon de bonne qualité dans ma collection. Je n'avais pas envie de dépenser plus pour une classique plus haut de gamme car les critiques de cette guitare sont assez unanimes et j'avais totalement confiance en Yamaha pour un rapport qualité/prix exemplaire.
Et je ne suis pas déçu ! Au casque, c'est très flatteur. Le son est chaud, équilibré, et il peut être très nuancé selon votre style de jeu. L'électronique répond de manière exemplaire à tous les styles d'attaque, et les effets intégrés sont de bonne facture (bien que j'avoue ne pas comprendre l'intérêt du chorus sur une guitare classique). Mention spéciale pour la reverbe 2 qui sublime particulièrement l'ensemble, c'est tout à fait joussif !
Branchée sur ampli, ma critique ne s'adressera qu'à quelques personnes, car j'utilise un Boss Katana 100, qui me permet d'utiliser aussi bien mes guitares électriques que mes électro-acoustiques grâce à son canal spécifique.
Dans ce cas précis et avec cet ampli, le son est très acceptable mais beaucoup moins "pur" qu'avec un casque (ou les oreillettes fournies qui sonnent vraiment bien également) ; le Katana a tendance à rendre le son beaucoup plus mat et moins dynamique. C'est plutôt correct si comme moi vous jouez pour vous dans votre coin, mais si vous avez des ambitions sonores plus importantes avec cet instrument, il ne sera certainement pas futile d'investir dans un ampli spécifique aux guitares électro, ou dans une enceinte FRFR.
Concernant le confort de jeu, je trouve cette guitare excellente. Le manche assure une bonne prise en main, plus large que celui d'une folk mais un peu moins que celui d'une classique traditionnelle est doux au toucher et très bien fini. (NB : si vous cherchez un vrai manche de largeur classique, optez pour le modèle NW)
Petit truc négatif concernant la touche, qui est légèrement rapeuse et qui rendra peu agréables les vibratos plus modernes si vous jouez un solo à la Malmsteen par exemple.
En bref, c'est un excellent instrument, très bien positionné d'un point de vue tarifaire, idéale pour travailler discrètement ou branchée sur un ampli adapté. Et j'ai personnellement un gros coup de c½ur sur l'esthétique de l'objet, je la trouve superbe !

I got this guitar because I didn't have a good quality nylon guitar in my collection. I didn't want to spend more for a more high-end classic because the reviews of this guitar are quite unanimous and I had complete confidence in Yamaha for exemplary quality/price ratio. And I am not disappointed ! On headphones, it's very flattering. The sound is warm, balanced, and it can be very nuanced depending on your playing style. The electronics respond in an exemplary manner to all attack styles, and the integrated effects are of good quality (although I admit that I don't understand the interest of the chorus on a classical guitar). Special mention for reverb 2 which particularly enhances the whole thing, it's quite joyful! Connected to an amp, my review will only be addressed to a few people, because I use a Boss Katana 100, which allows me to use both my electric guitars and my electro-acoustics thanks to its specific channel. In this specific case and with this amp, the sound is very acceptable but much less "pure" than with headphones (or the earphones provided which also sound really good); the Katana tends to make the sound much duller and less dynamic. It's quite correct if like me you play for yourself in your corner, but if you have greater sonic ambitions with this instrument, it will certainly not be futile to invest in an amp specific to electro guitars, or in a speaker FRFR. Regarding playing comfort, I find this guitar excellent. The handle ensures a good grip, wider than that of a folk but a little less than that of a traditional classic, is soft to the touch and very well finished. (NB: if you are looking for a real neck of classic width, opt for the NW model) Small negative thing concerning the fingerboard, which is slightly raspy and which will make the more modern vibratos not very pleasant if you play a solo like Malmsteen for example. In short, it is an excellent instrument, very well positioned from a price point of view, ideal for working discreetly or connected to a suitable amp. And I personally fell in love with the aesthetics of the object, I find it superb!
