Possible one of the greatest Zildjians ever made?

If Dennis Chambers uses the Crash of Doom, you know it has to be good right? Of course! This cymbal is my favourite cymbal of all time. Not only can you use it as a crash, but as a ride and effects cymbals. Whether used for jazz, rock, blues or funk, it really shines as an all time great.

Due to how thin it is, laying in to the cymbal to get that washy sound is oh so easy. And if you want a ride that isn't too prominent yet still gives a bit of body and presence...this is your cymbal!
Another bonus is the look of the cymbal. Having it in my set up just makes the kit look that much better!

I would highly recommend that you hold back from cleaning this cymbal. The more dirt that sits on this cymbal the better. This cymbal is a dark and warm sounding cymbal, and you'll see when you take your first look at this cymbal that it's not supposed to be clean, it's not supposed to be perfect.

All I can say is that you should go and get this cymbal. It's a dream to play and sounds incredible!

Awesome sound

I should explain that I'm using this as part of a range of percussion, mainly played with mallets, and not as part of a drum kit. It has great attack with a long finish. What impresses me most is the tone, which is quite dark, almost towards a gong-like sound, which I find wonderfully rich. I'm sure it would be a great addition to a standard drum kit too.

Absolutely love it

This cymbal... This cymbal.. This cymbal is so great! In short it got a long sustain, a distinct sound and awesome looks.
The longer story is that its sustain is (even with big cymbal pads) almost everlasting thanks to the asymmetric cut and irregular hammering. This irregular oriental cymbal style will stand out greatly from the rest of your set if you play with smaller and lower sustain cymbals and just about perfect if you use it among larger cymbals (i.m.o.). Volume is lower compared to traditional crashes of this size, which I actually think is good. Otherwise this piece would take over the kit, while now it just is there, being awesome. For pop/rock drummers I recommend it as an additional crash, for jazz you could use it as a main ride. And yes! It does have a mystic oriental shimmer, all over it.

And finally, just look at it. Just want to hit it hard, and trash about, don't ya? ;)

Great cymbal

As a jazz drummer I was looking for a crash/ride with some filth and darkness. This was a good choice, since it has a nice dark wash and fairly clear stick definition when you ride it, and a massive crashing quality when being played with the shoulder of the stick. It's called "crash of doom" but it can definitely be used as a ride as well. Strictly crashing it can be quite brutal, which is also cool. Rad cymbal it is.
