I have a set of Zultan Caz on a kit I play regularly in a church and they are ideal. I have the 16 and 17 crashes; their tone and character are very distinct from each other.
Both respond well at a range of volumes. There's a good crash sound available at lower volumes, and both respond very well to cymbal swells. Both let me use mallets to build a crescendo that has a bright shimmery feel even at very low volumes.
The 16 has a much sharper attack and brighter overall tone than the 17. It can be a struggle to control it at lower volumes, and has taken a while to get used to it. It is almost like playing a large splash. I happen to like that .. I'm not a fan of small splashes.
I'm very pleased with the Zultan Caz set. The value for money is incredible. I have some reservations about Thoman's packaging and delivery, as in my review of the Caz 19 Crash / Ride, but I have no reservations about the cymbal itself at all.

Fast and dry
Anonymous 06.11.2014
I'm a big fan of the Zultan Caz series. This smaller crash is dry and fast and not piercingly loud.
It's very nice for recording, but I feel it lacks the richness of the bigger Caz's in a live or rehearsal setting (I'm a fan of big cymbals)
I'll be replacing it in my setup with the 18" Caz shortly. But I won't get rid of the 16" as it is a perfectly nice and well-behaved crash.
The price point of the Zultans is out of this world for what you get!

wow!!!
Anonymous 27.02.2017
that sound for that money? just wow!
i could not be more satisfied with 16 crash.
that sound of b20 bronze combined with small thickness is real deal! and finish! they look expensive and sound expensive, without being expensive. how good can it be? seriously, it doesn't get better than this.
i understand that zultan is not so much popular brand, but that is going to change with this quality/price ratio.
