With integrated power filtering technology

The compact, USB-powered Revolution 2x2 audio interface developed by the US manufacturer Black Lion Audio offers technical features and a high-quality sound that can otherwise only be found in more expensive products. The interface has a maximum resolution of 24 bit/192kHz and also features the extremely precise, proprietary Macro MMC clock for accurate AD/DA conversion. What is more, the Revolution 2x2 is equipped with PG-i technology, which filters out adverse influences via the USB power supply. In addition to two jack/XLR combo inputs, it offers two balanced monitor outputs in 6.3mm jack format, as well as a headphone output that can be adjusted separately. Also included in the scope of delivery are an extensive software package and two USB cables.

Direct monitoring with a mono switch

The Black Lion Audio Revolution 2x2 has two jack/XLR combo inputs, both of which can also be used as instrument inputs (Hi-Z), while phantom power (+48V) can be switched on for both inputs globally. The unit is also equipped with a so-called direct control, which can be used to mix the inputs and monitor without latency. However, the mono button is not intended for mono summing of the monitor outputs, but applies exclusively to the direct monitoring. This means that if the mono button is deactivated and the control is set all the way to the left, the input signals are played back on the left and right. When activated, the mono button ensures that the input signals are played back in the centre, as is preferable with a single-channel signal.

High quality to take away

The portable Revolution 2x2 delivers a compelling performance that allows users to record high-quality audio tracks. While some competitors offer more channels for the same price, the Revolution 2x2 provides a more transparent, detailed sound, which is mainly thanks to the superior components and the consistent decoupling of the AD/DA converters. This interface additionally features a sturdy design, which is a real advantage when it comes to recording while travelling. Musicians, singers, and producers who want to be on the safe side in terms of sound, both in their home studio and on the road, will find a suitable audio interface with the Revolution 2x2.

About Black Lion Audio

Black Lion Audio is a US company from Chicago that has become known for the modification of industry-renowned microphone preamplifiers, digital-to-analogue converters, and signal processors. However, the manufacturer's portfolio also includes innovations such as the PG-1 Type F Power Conditioner, which was developed completely in-house. The Black Lion Audio team has always taken great care to only produce devices with a high standard of sound and workmanship, which has earned the manufacturer an international reputation within the audio industry. With the 2021 release of the Revolution 2x2, Black Lion Audio also expanded its existing product range with a compact audio interface, which brought to bear all of the manufacturer’s accumulated experience and expertise.

Audio recording made easy

The Black Lion Audio Revolution 2x2's eight-segment LED level indicator provides output metering for the connected monitor speakers and is therefore not suitable for levelling the input signals. Instead, input metering is provided by simple, two-colour LEDs that switch from green to red when overloaded. Thanks to the two combined inputs, vocals and an instrument can be recorded simultaneously. As a result of the direct monitoring, the incoming signals can be monitored with zero latency during recording, while the direct control creates the required mix between the input signal and DAW playback.

Exceptional quality at this price point
The Idle Rich 02.03.2021
I should really give this a few more days, but I can't get over how few reviews there are on this so I feel duty bound to let you know that this is a top quality interface.

Build quality.
This is a cliche at this stage, but this IS built like a tank. The knobs and buttons are better than those on the ID22, I own that too. There's nothing loose or flimsy. It's a solid build.

Bah humbug.
Maybe it's just me, but every interface I've ever owned would hum when I plugged a guitar or bass into it. No hum with this, which I wasn't expecting and I've used lots of interfaces over the years. They do mention "de-coupling" and stuff about clean power etc, so it obviously counters the hum.

Sound quality.
It sounds great, big and clean. I've had the Apogee Duet in the past, this sounds better to me. They did say that they reckon it sounds better than interfaces in the $2k range, I wouldn't know if they've achieved this as that's out of my comfort zone, but you won't be disappointed.

Features.
This doesn't make your bed or walk your dog. There's no built in plugins or guitar sims. You can't record your 32 piece orchestra with it.
it's a straight forward 2 in 2 out high quality interface.

Headphone out.
I use Sennheiser HD600 and they sound great with the 2x2. Again the sound quality is excellent.

In conclusion.
This is pretty much perfect for my needs so I can't really fault it. The only unknown is, how long will it last? I'm assuming it will well and truly outlive its 3 year warranty period based on the build quality and the fact that it's not trying to do a million and one different tasks.

Stellar audio
Phaidon 15.12.2021
This is by far the best audio i/o you can have for less than 1000 euros.
Nothing comes close. Someone mentioned that this is a noisy interface??!
Absolutely not. Conversion is fantastic and gives me new pleasure playing with VSTis. So much presence and weight. The only thing I'll cut points from is the lack of midi i/o and a second pair of in/outs for a bit more flexibility integrating external hardware.Cant complain for the price though.Nothing but praise and highly recommended.Did I mention the clarity on that thing??!
I hope Black Lion comes up with an 8 channel unit!

Plain and simple
opcabpol 01.11.2022
This interface is very sturdy and the feel of the buttons and knobs leaves no doubt (so does the USB cables quality).
The preamps can get noisy in maximum gain but are very clear and revealing at normal settings. Instrument inputs are tight and not the wobbly kind.
The headphones shine! I was coming from a Duet firewire and now I can hear through the veil. Also, I use AKG K 240 DF headphones with 600 Ohms impedance and there's enough volume to drive them.
Converters do their job very well, everything sounds clear (nice bass definition, reverb tails are heard, nice presence and soundstage).
Worthy upgrade from the Apogee!

NIce Piece of Kit

Received my audio interface 3 day before expected delivery date which was nice. I was pleasantly surprised unboxing the device in three lots on boxes and very well protected no chance of damage. The BLA interface is well build feels very solid all knobs are nice and tight no wobbling here. I have used a few different interfaces now all of which are very good but after only one days use this is the very best in the price range. The sound is excellent, full bodied with lots of depth. makes my other interfaces sound quite flat. I arrived at this purchase because I was tired of wrestling with levels trying to record with the direct monitoring so was looking for an interface with input/playback mix levelling. Saw some reviews on the BLA interface and though I would give it a try. I was not disappointed very easy to work with. Yes other interface have more features like on board compressors and midi interfaces, the bundled software makes up for all this and I have no real need for a MIDI interface here most midi controllers give you that facility. The sound QUALITY makes this device a winner. All in all very pleased with this purchase and looking forward to working with it.
