My favourite pedal on my board
Anonymous 28.08.2015
I don't normally get blown away by pedals, but this certainly did it for me. If I had to describe it in one sentence, it would simply be "Buy this pedal" The Boss RV-3 is a highly sought after pedal in the reverb world, the RV-6 trumps it in my opinion.

The modulation setting sounds good, no complaints there. I'm not a big spring, room, or hall user, so I can't really comment on them. The dynamic setting is also an interesting one but one I don't tend to use. Where this pedal really shines for me is in its first two settings, +delay, and Shimmer. The +delay mode does exactly what you'd expect it to. It adds a delay line to your reverb, with the kind of quality delay you'd expect from Boss. If you have room for only one delay on your board, this setting can be very useful for ambient swells and such.

Where this pedal really shines is it's shimmer setting. Shimmer seems to be the in thing when it comes to reverb these days and the RV-6 beats them all for me. You can control the tone of the shimmer, clockwise gives you the classic octave up setting you'd be used to, but further counterclockwise settings give the shimmer this choir like heavenly sound that I just can't get enough of. It's this shaping of the shimmer tone (not to mention the incredible sound) that makes the RV-6 the best ambient reverb on the market at the minute.

I also have to mention Thomann shipped this pedal to me on a Friday, it arrived at my door in Dublin at 7am on Tuesday. That's 1 full working day to get from their warehouse to my door on the other side of Europe. Phenomenal service, for a phenomenal pedal at a phenomenal price.

r
The Reverb pedal You're looking for!
rihardslibietis 29.12.2020
High quality reverb pedal with almost all the different types of reverb you would need most of the time. Regular Boss build quality - I don't know what someone should attempt to do to break it . :)

If You're looking for a versatile reverb pedal to play live, record with, Boss RV-6 has a wide enough range of settings to find the sound you're looking for - from regular spring, plate, room reverberations, to more intense modulation, hall and shimmer settings.

If You, like me, can't decide between TC-Electronic HoF or Boss Rv-6 - I would say that this is more natural sounding and maybe even a little bit more versatile reverb pedal. Anyway, during almost 4 years of gigging and recording, I've never regretted choosing this pedal.

Of course, for more specific ambient soundscapes I would recommend other pedals, specifically designed for that purpose, like Walrus Audio Fathom and similar. But as a pedal You would need as a working musician in various genres - this is an excellent choice for the price, quality and variety of sound.

I wanted to Big Sky but bought the Boss RV-6
vuesnat11 16.05.2018
I really wanted the BigSky Reverb.
So i ordered the BigSky Reverb and the Boss RV-6.
And after trying both I decided that the Boss RV-6 does exactly what i need it to do.
I am playing acoustic/ electric in a Christian worship Band.
And I am using this pedals together with my Timeline Strymon. The Boss RV-6 is exactly creating the Reverb I need. I love the sound of it.
And to my ears, the Reverb sound compared to the Big Sky is just fine.

I am using the Boss Pedal mainly for live on stage situations.
So there is no time for playing with the buttons and changing the Pedal Effect. Using this Pedal live means that I only get to use 1 setting.

That would be different with the BigSky as it is a lot easier to switch between different settings.
Of course, the Big Sky gives me Midi Control and just a lot more options. But for what I do the Boss is just enough.

Pros:
Good Boss Quality - I think it'will last for a life time.
Good Price
Nice Reverb and Shimmer

Contra:
No Midi
1 Setting during Live Session

I would definitely buy the Boss again.

p
super pedal, especially with valve-amp
pazzer 16.05.2020
There are a couple of 'party' effects that probably shouldn't see light-of-day on a 'reverb' pedal, but overall this pedal is great.... and very flexible from a 'reverb-only' perspective. Ideal for gigging given the easy-access and live-control via an expression pedal ( works nicely with Boss EV-30 )

It's pretty warm when running into a valve-amp (Fender Deluxe Reverb, Normal Channel).

Some pedals of this design sound too metallic or pinchy, but the RV-6 seems to overcome this hurdle well with the tone-control for tonal-matching with pickups and amp.
