AS
WEIRD SOLDERING TIP+RING. NOT For Modular synth use.
Anton S.M. 07.05.2020
I bought two of this cables for connecting a eurorack system to an audio interface. In this cable the tip AND the ring of the minijack end are coupled together to the tip of the 1/4" jack. Since one side is TS (mono) and the other is TRS (stereo) the connection should be Tip to Tip and Sleeve to Ring+Sleeve. When using this cable on a modular synth (with mono jack sockets) a shortcut happens between tip and ground, and no audio reaches the interface end.

This tip-ring coupling wasn't specified anywhere, and (for what I've seen so far) is NOT the standard rule for mono cables, since mono jack sockets (1/8" or 1/4") will ground the ring connection.

This main issue aside, the materials seem to be of good quality.

a-
joint stereo, mini-jack to jack cable
axel - ANTS (AlterNative Technology Systems, https//ants.pimient 23.09.2024
This is the only joint stereo cable around thomann, at least with male mini-jack and male jack ends. I've been using it to transform a left-and-right only output from a mixer into a joint stereo. It means you have the ability to have at least two separate outputs from the master L and R. It is very useful to me :)
The cable seems robust and quite durable, it isn't a PRO cable, but it makes what it says, and for the price that's actually good. The alternative for me would be to solder my own cables, and close to an event I don't have time for that.
Only thing to know, the rubber around it is sort of "rigid" (that's why the 4 stars) you know, you cannot really lay it down without having some curves, but with a bit of effort you manage to lay it down in the way you want.

Two in one does go

Thomann have a great cable finding app on their site which helped me to locate this rare cable. I have looked elsewhere but it is really hard to find a cable that will take a stereo mini jack output from a iPad and sum the signal to a mono jack input for your mixing desk line in. Why would anyone want such a cable I hear you ask? Well, in my tribute act band running with backing tracks I sometimes take a small footprint but powerful HK elements system with me running in mono and having the signal summed to mono on one channel is exactly what I need for the gig. Good quality, a decent length and tested with my left, right, centre home grown MP3 just so I know it really does sum the signal. Perfect.
