Installed this in my Ibanez RG350dx, and never had any regrets. Distorted power chords sound became more concentrated and more clear comparing to the stock pickup, which was a bit bloomy comparing to the super distortion. And lead became more shiny and screaming. Also, cleans were not superb, but good enough to use it sometimes, but anyway for cleans i usually use neck pickup.

It does exactly what is says it does..

I installed this legendary beast in my floyd rose mex strat to get the great tones of my favorite band Iron Maiden and lets just say it does exactly that.On removing it from the packaging you can see the quality and workmanship. Now I have installed probably 20 plus pickups in my time and on stripping and prepping the wires you can see the quality and finish that generic pickups will never match.
One great feature is the fact that you can adjust the pole pieces on both sides with an allen wrench to match the radius of the bridge. The pickup is hot it,s not for the faint hearted and packs a great punch while still retaining great string balance and clarity.
I would compare it to a Seymour Duncan distortion but with more attack and a touch more low end.
It cleans up ok not as well as the Seymour but then again we are not looking to play jazz here we are here to rock. This pickup has big bottom end grunt with plenty of blistering highs,it shouts and screams but all the while you can hear everything it says. I would suggest matching it with a Dimarzio Chopper in the neck position.
Hope this helps on your quest for tone but hey if its good enough for Adrian Smith then thats all the information you need.

Dimarzio SuperD
Anonymous 17.10.2014
Dimarzio Super Distortion. What haven't been said about this legendary pickup? Probably not much. It was a game changer when it came out in the early 70's and it is still to this day used by many legendary guitarists. One of the best pickups for rock and old school metal. Heavy bottom and lots of output makes it suitable to go from fat metal rhythm to screaming leads without changing anything on your amplifier or pedal, no need for an overdrive pedal or booster with this pickup. It works good on it's own in a one pickup guitar or together with a lower output pickup in the neck. Or you could pair it together with the Dimarzio "Super 2" if you want something to match the output in the neck but with more clarity. This pickup is a must try for all metal guitarists.
Quality is the best, as with all Dimarzio products.
