Noise / Random Generator

Module A-118 is a noise and random voltage generator. The A-118 generates the signals white noise, coloured noise, and random voltage. Whilst white and coloured noise can be used both as an audio signal and as a control voltage (in conjunction with an S / H module), the generated random voltage is predominantly used as a control voltage because of the emphasis on the low frequency. The A-118 offers you the possibility to individually adjust the sound colours of the coloured noise by setting the red portion (low frequencies) and the blue portion (high frequencies) separately.

The course of the random voltage, which the rate of change and amplitude you can adjust, is indicated by two LEDs.

Das Modul macht einfach Spaß

Den Noise/Random-Generator nutze ich in meinem selbst zusammengebauten Doepfer A-100 und es gehört inzwischen mit zu meinen Lieblingsmodulen, weil es einfach Spaß macht!

Es ist sehr vielseitig einsetzbar, so lassen sich nicht nur die üblichen, z. B. Wind-Sounds für Ambient und Co. erzeugen, sondern Rauschen lässt sich mit VCF-, ADSR- und VCA-Modulen auch sehr schön in Perkussions- oder andere Sounds umformen. Aber das ist nur ein Beispiel von vielen, selbst habe ich längst nicht alle klanglichen Möglichkeiten ausgelotet. Das Modul lädt aber definitiv zum Spielen und Experimentieren ein.

Die von dem Modul daneben ausgegebene "Zufallsspannung" nutze ich gerne, um z. B. die Tonhöhe von Noten oder auch die Filterfrequenz zufällig zu verändern, was sehr viel Abwechslung in einen ansonsten eher gleichförmigen, vom Sequencer gesteuerten Track bringen kann.

Das Modul ist sauber verarbeitet und macht einen robusten Eindruck.

Das A-118 bietet analoges weißes und farbiges Rauschen, das sich in Blau und Rot-Anteilen regeln lässt. Dazu gibt es noch einen in Rate und Level regelbaren Random Voltage Output, dessen Verlauf durch die Farb-Regler bestimmt wird. Die Vintage Edition ist gewohnt edel mit U-Scheibchen unter den schwarzen Schrauben und benötigt weiterhin ca. 10 min zum "Aufwärmen", bis das erste Rauschen zu hören ist. Ist eben analog...
