I just finished installing these.
Pros: good looking (subtle), easy to mount, clear instructions. You will need two tools. A Phillips screwdriver, evidently, but also something like a needle point nosed pliers to get the retainer clip to snap into the locking pin?s shank groove. Unless you have steel fingers.
Cons: I?ll let the instructions speak for themselves (the caps are Dunlop?s ):
"Maintenance: It is important to periodically maintain the Straplock system. Keeping the ball bearings and the locking pin lubricated is VERY important, as is making sure there is nothing inside the strap button. We recommend the following items to assist you:
1. Cotton Swabs
2. Lubricant Spray"
Frankly, how is one supposed to know what "periodically" means in this context? Is the alternative to this vigilance/effort on the part of the buyer that one day the locking pin, and therefore the strap, might get stuck on the guitar? This is a bit of a concern since one of the locks is tricky to release. So I guess it already needs lubricating...
Jeez Louise. Wish I had known, cause these don?t come cheap. I got my six-year old the Harley Benton Security Locks BK at a fraction of the price. They work fine and don?t require maintenance.
