Sweet. Simple. Reverb.
Harry82 24.08.2015
I bought this pedal based on the fact that it was highly regarded, had good reviews, and that one of my musical heroes uses one. I was not disappointed.

The spring reverb effect was what I was really after, it offered me a very simple reverb sound that went beautifully with my clean tone. Given there is only one parameter knob on the Holy Grail, you can't tweak as much as you may like, but for a rhythm guitarist such as myself this didn't affect me too much.

The 'Flerb' setting is not something I had given a large amount of thought but after a play around with it I've found it to be quite an interesting sound. A nice addition to the pedal whilst again taking into consideration the price and size.

The only real criticism I would have of the Nano Holy Grail is the 'Hall' setting. When it's turned past around 3 o'clock, the delay between playing the chord and it coming out of the amplifier is large and noticeable. I am unsure whether this is a problem many people have as I have not looked into it but I feel it makes the 'Hall' setting relatively unusable.

The EHX Nano Holy Grail 'spring reverb' is definitely something I have kept in my pedal chain, even though I now own a Strymon Big Sky as well.

Da
Great sound, a bit limited
David aus Z. 19.09.2014
This is a pretty straight forward hall pedal. The spring reverb sounds great, I like it just as much or more than the one in my amp. Until 12'o clock I'd say is the normal range of reverb for me, higher settings are good for an extreme effect. One thing important to know is that with higher settings, all parameters of the hall change, so not just decay and mix, but also predelay. The features on this pedal are a bit limited in that sense, in return you get the very small size.
One thing that is a small problem for me is the loud acoustic click-noise when you turn the pedal on and off. The switch has more resistance than the one on my freeze and is also a lot louder, this is a problem for me because I play a lot of quite music, and initially I wanted two have a little amount of hall set on my amp, and use the holy grail to add more hall. At the moment I try just switching between more and less hall by turning the knob with my foot, which works pretty well, or I will get a new, quieter switch for it someday.
With a quieter switch, this would be the ideal hall pedal for me, because it sounds very good and is so straight forward, you can't loose yourself on the knobs because there is just one ;)

a
it is good but not perfect
andre11q 28.06.2021
i guess the knob doesnt adjust just the effect level but also the decay, therefore you cant have a pronounced reverb sound without having a long, a bit fake and annoying, reverb.
Still it sounds good but not like an amp, i wonder if they changed something from the old nano holy grail

Electro Harmonix Holy Grail

EHX Holy Grail is one of the very best reverb pedals in the market.

Pros:

- Has many possibilities of reverb tones (Spring, Hall and Flerb)
- Only has one knob and it's perfectly enough
- Especially the spring reverb has a very nice and warm tone
- It works perfectly from a subtle jazzy reverb to a full wet psychadelic reverb

Cons:

- The flerb sound is a bit strange at first, but after some practice you get more used to it's flangery mood
- Can only be used with the original power supply that comes with the pedal.

Conclusion:

Although the small size and having only one knob this pedal can turn in a verstile tool to you guitar sound.
Put it in the end of your pedal chain, plug in your guitar and discover by yourself the magical world of reverbs.
