M/S mode makes it a good tool.

Precise selection of parameters - Every step has an audible difference and there are many many steps.

It is a saturation and it will pin the low end down, meaning you will lose dynamics, but works nicely, and very nicely on Sides.

Pushing the Drive, reveals the saturation point at the frequency selected by the color knob underneith the Drive knob. Once you tune it to the frequency you want, then back the drive down to re-introduce dynamics and lose the too much saturation effect. You just drive it to see where you are color-wise. Then, back down and blend it in 30 -80 % while adjusting the gain to control the wet signal's dynamics.

The sweet spot for every knob is where it has the text (Left channel)

A good colour module in a compact 500 series format
sean32767 15.05.2017
I bought the Elysia Karacter to sit after my Xpressor 500 module, also by Elysia.

It has a very warm tone and low saturation levels -- a sweet spot for the music I am doing. However it does overdrive very nicely, perfect if you want to crush drums without going overboard like some bitcrushers will often do to sound.

I would recommend if you are using it for electronic music, drums/etc. Not sure how useful it would be for other genres but you never know.

A
Good audio tool
Anonymous 17.06.2016
Elysia Karacter is a good audio tool. I got it for a week, i used it a pair of times. I think it shines when you work with highs and low frecuencies of a sound. It makes emerge nicely burned both frequency zones (that just my opinión).
You can get from a really hi fi top frecuencies (for pop and techno, think in Drake "hotline bling hihat). And for rock you can use it quiter.
I've not tested Karacter in mastering function yet.
And then is the mi/side, mono or stereo options.
I've used it in kick and snare, both in mono function, i think kickdrum in turbo boost mode.
Drive, colour and mix knobs are the key.
Lot of fun and possibilities are coming with this Elysia Karacter.
