A really helpful and flexible tool!

I learned about this microphone holder from another drummer/sound engineer. He has a couple of them and uses them to mike floor tom, snare top and/or bottom or even Hi-Hats from the bottom (in those cases where that is needed).

I bought one myself half a year ago for those exact same purposes. But also to mount my tablet holder on any type of stand (I do this when I want to go to rehearsal by bicycle).

Pros: Absolutely versatile tool for mounting of microphones, tablets, ... I even used it recently to mount two stereo bars of microphones to one mic stand.

Cons: The only one I can find is that you can turn the rod in only 6 positions. The rod is hexagonal and the screw only works on the flat sides. It limits the possible positions only a little bit though.

Handy, but with a disappointment
Blickfanger 30.07.2014
This thing does what it is supposed to do, holding a microphone firmly. It operates simple and smooth and can be fixed easily, without play. Mechanical quality is fine.

My only problem with it is that the six-sided bar cannot be fixed safely under any rotational angle as the fixing screw needs to be pushing against a flat side of the bar to get good grip. There are in fact only six rotational positions, which would not be a problem if it could be mounted as shown in the picture. Alas, that's the one position that is NOT possible, with the angled side of the bar pointing straight up (or straight down). I wish K&M had made the choice to bend the end of the bar in a 1/12th different direction, which would have made it far more useful. So now I use the straight end of the bar, most of the time, although when I purchased it I intended to use the other side mostly.

Great mount!
Anonymous 21.01.2017
These mic mounts are solid - perhaps a little too solid - they are heavy. However, they are a very good design and do the job admirably. The ability to mount mics at any point on a boom is great and I haven't found the 2 positions available be a disadvantage.

For additional positions the bar can be rotated - but as it is hexagonal there are only really 6 positions usable. If you need a little extra length the bar slides back and forth.

Great purchase and did the job required.

Versatile

One of the many above average mic holders. It's sturdy, so therefore very suitable for drum miking, and especially basedrum miking with the heavy mikes. I clamped it on my tom holder and let it face downwards to hold the basedrum mike, it's still sitting at the same place after months of every day drumming.

There are many solutions for instrument miking, this one I'd always take into the collection for the drums.
