Boutique amp head

The Mooer Tube Engine power amp has been specially designed with the needs of guitarists in mind, to enable them to play their meticulously customised pedalboard or digital modelling amp through a speaker cab of their choice. Thanks to its purely analogue signal path and Class A/B power tube circuit, the Tube Engine can also be integrated into a puristic setup with tube preamplifiers. The choice of a classic Class A/B tube circuit, which has a better thermal efficiency level than Class A designs but generates significantly more heat compared to modern Class D circuits, also means that the robustly constructed Mooer Tube Engine 20W power amp perfectly caters to the current trend towards individually configured guitar rigs at an attractive price-performance ratio that will win over a large number of users.

Pedal and preamp platform

As a classic tube power amp, the Mooer Tube Engine provides a link between pedalboard, preamp/modelling amp, and speaker cab that allows the sound of the entire signal chain to be significantly shaped (as opposed to neutral-sounding power amps) and a wide tonal range to be explored thanks to its sophisticated combination of features, including power amp distortion for adding saturation to a preamp signal, special harmonic distortion effects that are characteristic of tube amps, and the complex behaviour between the speaker cab's load and the power amp's impedance. The Mooer Tube Engine is optimally placed between the preamp or modelling amp and the speaker cab in the signal chain. The Hi/Low toggle switch for selecting the input impedance allows the sound to be initially modified via the input level, while the Presence control knob can be used to add clarity to the power amp signal by boosting the higher frequencies.

For tube amp fans and amp modellers

Its puristic Class A/B tube circuit design makes the Mooer Tube Engine an interesting solution for tube amp fans who are looking for a power amp head to combine with their beloved tube preamp. Users will particularly benefit from Mooer's selection of widely-used ECC83/ECC81 preamp and EL84 power tube models, which are permanently available on the market at an affordable price in most countries. The Mooer Tube Engine can also be used in unconventional ways in order to spice up the tone of a digital modelling rig with a vintage tube sound or by directly connecting a pedalboard without an additional preamp, for example. Those who own an all-in-one solution that offers amp modelling, cab IRs, and multi-effects in a single unit will in turn find the Mooer Tube Engine the ideal tool to complement their individual setup in conjunction with a 1x12"or 2x12" speaker cab.

About Mooer

Mooer is based in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and has been making products for guitarists since 2010, which include compact single pedals through to multi-effects units and compact amplifiers. The company initially produced a range of mini pedals before making perhaps its most significant breakthrough in 2016 with the sophisticated Ocean Machine delay pedal, which was designed in collaboration with Devin Townsend. Mooer's product range now also includes solutions that feature amp modelling, IR-based speaker simulation, and matching equalisers, and the company's focus remains firmly on the use of digital technology.

The missing link

A high-quality tube power amp like the Mooer Tube Engine is an important element in modern, highly-customised guitar setups with a modular design that comprise various components from different brands and manufacturers depending on the user's individual preferences and budget. The Tube Engine provides a power output of 20 watts, which is sufficient for connecting a 1x12" or 2x12" speaker cab and will deliver a solid sound experience both in the rehearsal room and on smaller club stages. Whether it is used as a pedal platform, with a modelling floorboard, or in a puristic tube amp setup, its warm tube sound, favourable price, and appealing design all make the Mooer Tube Engine the missing link in the signal chain between state-of-the-art guitar setups and speaker cabinets, and a classic solution for every modern guitarist.
