This fret shield is a game changer for any professional workshop. It saves hours of taping up fingerboards, and allows the safe use of Dremel-type polishing wheels with no danger of burning the wood of the fingerboard.
You do really need a set of them. This one is the Gibson scale of 24.62", and also fits most Gretsch guitars. Epiphone guitars and other imports need the 24.75" scale, and there are others for PRS and Fender as well as a couple of common bass scales.
This means they are not cheap, but they can be re-used indefinitely. As such, they are not really intended for home use. For shops, guitar techs, guitar makers and repairers they are invaluable. A set will quickly pay for itself in time saved.
They are flexible to the point of seeming flimsy - this is necessary. They need to be thin so they wrap around the radius of the fingerboard. Treat them with respect - hang them up when not in use, and they will last for years.
