MXL 770 is a mircle

Bargain for professional use. I m finally glad to experience a mic that everybody can afford and does its job perfectly. Its ideal for any studio use. Vocal, Percussion, Instrument you name it. Its a rappers delight for project studio, it produces very low noise when turned on, with a simple gate compressor you can have a very clean hook. It has low cut and -10dB option for additional flexibility.Notice: I also have 10x more expensive condenser mic in my studio, but when i compared it to this one there is so little difference! (tested with same takes, same singer, and ambience)
Stop looking for better option if you are on limited budget, you won't find it.. Buy this mic and start recording professional quality studio takes now. If i had an option buying this mic before the expensive one, i would save a lot of money and rather invest it somewhere else.. Marshal electronics did their job flawlessly! 6/5 stars

Great! For the price
Anonymous 16.12.2014
As with many items that are on the cheaper end, a lot of people will say good "for the price", but don't let this fool you, this is a good mic on it's own merits. The mic arrives in a neat case, and shock mount which I wasn't expecting due to the cheaper nature of the product.

Sound: As with a lot of condenser mics, it is very bright sounding with a prominent treble response. I have quite a thin voice, so it wasn't perfect for me, as there isn't much warmth without a good preamp.

Features: Standard really, with phantom power required and some basic options on the response pattern.

As with all condenser mics, BE CAREFUL! They are fragile due to the diaphragm inside, so it isn't hard wearing, but they aren't meant to be! If you need a live mic, use a dynamic.

Thanks Thomann for the quick deliver!

Crisp and clean vocal recording

Fantastic quality for the price. Recorded a vocal track on this which a studio engineer I spoke to claimed it was as good as anything he could get on his vastly more expensive mic.

M
best condenser mic if on a tight budget
Maurix 05.05.2016
This is one of the best - if not the best - cardioid condenser mics for people on a budget. Excellent for home studio. It is meant for recording vocals, acoustic guitar and even drums.

I've even tried it mic'ing my combo with an electric guitar and though a bit bassy, not bad actually...

First impressions were just overwhelming, just great tonal voice; remember to get a popkiller, and to spend some time with eq and arranging your recording room as it has a huge range and it may pick up unwanted sounds.

Pros

- price
-it comes with a shockmount and case
-really heavy
-quality (built like a tank)
- adjustable knobs for bass and -10db
-tonal definition

Cons

-the case quality is not great
-a bit bassy (but one can adjust the bass knob)

Overall, best cardioid condenser mic for a beginners home studio on a tight budget - great tone and it won't break the bank!
