One big plus of digital mixers is the ability to store and recall all parameters (Total Recall). In most cases, this is done through scenes. However, there are often different layers of storage options. Within a mixer, you can load a show, and within that show, there are multiple scenes that can be called up. Sometimes, there are even smaller units called "snippets."
The concept of scene management originally comes from the theater world. For each scene in a play, you can mute or unmute microphone channels, use different effects, or adjust volume levels. While creating scenes during rehearsals can be time-consuming, during the actual performance, you'll only need to recall and perhaps fine-tune each scene.
Utilizing scenes is also a handy tool for bands who mix themselves, using a new scene for each song. It's advantageous even during gigs with multiple bands. After each soundcheck, you can save the parameters, then recall the appropriate settings when each band performs.
