XLR output is also available as a parallel port on the back
The active circuitry allows for a high input impedance of 1 Mohm and greater sensitivity of the input signal (typical difference between in and out: -4 dB)
Max. output voltage is +10 dBu with phantom power
Transformer balanced output
Via a special "floating ground" circuit the ground lift switch functions even with phantom power

Perfect if you have a keyboard/sampler set-up that requires several DIs as it's compact and rack-mountable. It isn't a cure-all for ground loops and faulty wiring but providing everything else is working OK, the Palmer does the job. Note, it comes with a hard-wired euro plug so you'll need an adaptor for UK supplies.

A very hany addition to your rack
Fancy STV 16.03.2016
I use the Palmer PAN 03 mostly for synths. It is a very convenient way of accessing my mixers inputs, as the unit is rack located near my synth outputs. I much prefer the sound of DI'd synth as it seems to make the sound more vibrant. The input jack are smooth to use and the pad and ground lift buttons feel solid and reliable. The over all build of the unit is solid. The only thing I don't like is the having to use an external power supply to power the DI rack, as it does not operate using phantom power from your mixer.

Sounds great unless pushed hard
Tom Gibson 16.11.2017
Great unit, well built and rugged. I have noticed that when it is pushed hard it doesn't clip, it exhibits a resonance ringing kind of sound. This happened first when I was DI'ing at speaker level with the pad in (as advertised possible) making me worry about my amp and again when I drove it hard with a pedal without the pad, its odd and when not driven it in no way sounds faulty, it could be to do with the power supply I'm using possibly though so im not holding it against the unit in the review. Overall a good unit.

Seit Jahren im EinsatzIn use for years
ClemensMB 17.07.2011

We have been using the Palmer for more than 5 years. We are an acoustic rock band with around 20 gigs a year. The tapping options at the front and back make sense for us because we have connected the rear outputs directly to a multipin in our stage box. If we need to pick up additional signals, that's no problem with the front outputs. The thing doesn't make any noise, is well made, has significantly improved the sound of our E Acoustic Band compared to the previous passive version... (sounds more transparent, the overtones come into play) We don't know of anything better at this price and it's reliable taught us: we bought cheaply. We prefer the hard-wired power supply in the case to an unlocked cold device solution. But that is a matter of taste. We can simply recommend the DI. Does what it does, doesn't sound bad (i.e. doesn't color the sound), is robust, practical. We “only” gave four stars for the features, but what pointless additional features should a DI box have?
