Buy it, play it, love it!

This is a great bit of kit. I don't want to get involved in the active / passive argument and can't say that this pickup is the only one I will use for a 7 string, but boy does it bring a sound that makes my ears happy!

I find that 7 strings are often let down by pickups that struggle to get the most out of the low string. Often it sounds a bit... flat. Well this pickup remedies that. Please listen to samples and check it out as this can drastically improve any low - mid priced guitar with under powered pickups. Seymour Duncan always provide screws and a selection wiring diagrams and this one has the pickup mounting ring included too!

Just one thing to mention in the negative... The bare (ground) wire was short; it barely made it out of the black wire and required a bit of surgery to get it to fit. I must have wired a dozen Seymour Duncan's by now and have not come across this issue on any of the others so I'm confident this is an anomaly but it still proves that not everyone can be perfect.

Highly recommended.

so
brings the life out of my 7 string (ash/nyatoh body)

I was introduced to 7 strings guitars with an Ibanez RGD with BK aftermaths and I always thought there was something missing on the sound. Even though the BK pickups sound good I felt it was sounding a little bit flat and unidimensional. With this pickup the difference is huge (as full humbucker and 2nd voicing). The sound and clarity is so full even with a lot of distortion and the cleans are beautiful and really out of this world with this pickup. I swear by this pickup.

v
great modern metal 7 string humbucker

I use these humbucker in Ibanez Q 7 string. For me one of the best 7 strings humbuckers on the market. Very high output and articulate similar to JB and SH6. Very clear 7 string. For me better that Fluence modern. More organic sound with tube amps.
Big difference with Ibanez stock pickups on these Q series - much much better in any way
