We needed something REALLY easy to trigger strobes themselves on stage when we g on tour and cannot rely on the house light techs. We tested the Stairville LED Foot 8 DMX, but it is far too complex and better suited for a different, lower energy type type of band. A guitarist can be relied on to stop a pedal. More than than, it is a recipe for disaster!
So the FFC-1 seemed a great solution. The problem is that they are momentary, in that the connection is made only while standing on the pedal. Make sense for fog bursts, but we want to control lights. So in the end, we were able to find the exact same manufacturer of the switches in China and modified these pedals to include an on-off switch, instead of the momentary switch. The results are great. Just set everything to DMX address 1 and you're good to go.
Pros: Solid, simple, not expensive
Cons: Only momentary version available.
Oh yeah, attn. Thomann: I have about 20 extra switches that fit the pedals if you want to offer them as a mod kit!
