The XVive U6 Compact Wireless Mic System is an ultra-compact wireless voice recording system for cameras and smartphones that comprises a transmitter with an integrated microphone and a receiver. This four-channel wireless system operates in the open ISM 2.4GHz frequency band, which means it can be conveniently used worldwide. The XVive U6 comes with a bunch of accessories that provide users with a high level of flexibility, such as a mounting clip, a windscreen, and hook-and-loop patches that allow the transmitter and the receiver to be securely attached to different surfaces depending on the requirements of the specific application. This compact set offers everything that is required for high-quality wireless audio recording of professional interviews.
The integrated omnidirectional microphone is located at the top of the transmitter, which is ideal for voice recording, since the omnidirectional polar pattern allows sound to be picked up equally from all directions, no matter from what angle the user speaks into the microphone. The scope of delivery of the XVive U6 system also includes a synthetic fur windshield that provides effective wind noise attenuation for the microphone when recording outdoors. The button on the left hand side of the transmitter, which is used to switch the power on and off or select one of the four channels, is the only control element on this unit. There are also four front-facing LED lights that indicate the number of the selected channel as well as an additional LED light that shows whether the transmitter is switched on or off. The included mounting clip allows the transmitter to be easily attached to the speaker's clothing.
The four LED lights that indicate the channel selection can also be found on the matching receiver, alongside three additional LED lights that provide information about the different output gain levels. The corresponding gain button, which allows the gain level to be adjusted in the case of overloads and subsequent clipping, is located on the left hand side of the receiver, right next to the button for switching the power on and off or selecting one of the four channels. On the left hand side, the receiver features a signal output for connecting a camera or smartphone using the 3.5mm TRS cable that is included in the scope of delivery. The integrated shoe mount allows the receiver to be easily mounted on a camera. Alternatively, the receiver can be conveniently attached to a smartphone using the hook-and-loop patches that are also included in this set.
The XVive U6 Compact Wireless Mic System offers content producers an easy-to-use and budget-friendly solution for wireless voice recording over a signal range of up to 27.5m at high-quality 24-bit and 48kHz conversion. Thanks to its simplicity and the comprehensive range of accessories included, e.g. matching 3.5mm TRS cables and hook-and-loop patches, this wireless transmission system will come into its own in just about every application involving a speaker's voice, from videos and podcasts to presentations. Users won't have to worry about battery replacement either, since the U6 system operates on built-in lithium-ion batteries that can be easily recharged via the USB slots on the transmitter and receiver units. The XVive U6 Compact Wireless Mic System can be securely stowed away in the carrying pouch (included in the scope of delivery) and conveniently taken along on trips, e.g. to create simple travel video diaries.
Xvive Audio officially entered the market in 2012 with its compact U2 wireless guitar system. Since then, the company has also been involved in the development of wireless microphone technology. Its catalogue also includes effects pedals, such as the Signature Series, which were developed in partnership with guitarist Thomas Blug. The products are designed by an American team, based in Pasadena, California, which is composed of musicians and engineers and draws on decades of professional experience. Its lead designer, Howard Davies, was previously employed at Electro Harmonix and Pigtronix, among others. Xvive Audio's goal is to create products that deliver exceptional sound and build quality, while remaining affordable for any musician.
The included shoe mount and hook-and-loop patches, which allow easy and secure mounting, make the XVive U6 Compact Wireless Mic System a reliable wireless tool for a wide range of applications. Users who have used up all of their hook-and-loop patches can also purchase additional sets of the XVive H2 Hook Loop Fasteners. For optimum voice recording, the transmitter with the integrated microphone should be attached to the speaker's shirt about 20cm away from the mouth (approximately twice the distance between the tip of the thumb and the little finger). The closer the microphone is positioned to the sound source, the less ambient noise will be captured.
