Extravagant patina

The versatile cymbals of Zultan's Dark Matter series are manually shaped in Turkish production by the hammers of experienced cymbal smiths. Cast by hand from a high-quality B20 alloy, the cymbals owe their extraordinary appearance to an elaborate surface treatment in which the cymbals are immersed in a special liquid and afterwards polished with added bronze fragments. The 22-inch ride cymbal is just one of many other individual cymbals that are also available as preconfigured sets in the repertoire of the Dark Matter series.

Universal and explosive

"Dark" not only describes the look, but also the sonic character of this series. The combination of some respectable explosiveness and a good helping of clarity creates a universally applicable sound which, together with the appealing look, underlines the craftsmanship of the cymbal series. As each cymbal is handmade and therefore unique, minimal sound variations among several cymbals of the same type are completely normal. The 22-inch ride cymbal impresses with a fine sound, which is supplemented by a decent "wash" depending on the playing intensity. The bells have plenty of presence and are joined by crash reserves that can be coaxed out with a harder playing style.

Convincing sound at fair prices

Thanks to their unbeatable price-performance ratio, clean workmanship, and good sound, the cymbals of the Dark Matter series are interesting for ambitious beginners as well as for professionals who want to supplement their existing set with convincingly handcrafted cymbals. The 22-inch ride cymbal is testament to high quality thanks to its high degree of aesthetic appeal and high sound quality and, thanks to its diversity, is suitable for many different styles such as Rock, Pop, Urban, and Funk.

Superb Value Cymbal
Michael8655 26.11.2015
I have nothing but praise for my recent purchase of a 22 inch Zultan Dark Ride Cymbal. It has a beautiful tone, not too dark but just enough and it cuts through with a nice sustain. The bell tone is superb also. Perfect for jazz.

All my other cymbals are old Avedis Zildjians and it compares very well with those but at a fraction of the price. In fact it sounds very similar to K Zildjians.

I can't list any cons because I can't find any, I would recommend anyone to try these cymbals, especially if on a budget, but even if not.

I am very tempted to try the Hi Hats, perhaps next Christmas.

Excellent Crash!
PerArne 03.12.2019
This is an excellent crash cymbal for heavy rock. Dark and mysterious at the same time it isn't too dry. A solid bell.

Oh, and it works well as a ride too.

S
Great sound for the price
Sunshine1 06.08.2018
This is a great all round cymbal. I've used it in all kinds of styles from jazz to rock...it sounds great in most of them. It has suprising stick deffenition and warm, dark overtones.
It is a little on the louder side, especially when crashing it, but overall I'm verry satisfied.
The finish is unique and everybody wants to know what the cymbal is.

Love it!
BenoftheT 18.05.2024
Awesome stick definition and a lovely low wash when playing, bell sound is nice, quite pingy but not overly harsh. One thing to consider is you will NOT be getting a proper crash out of it, due to its size it makes more of a gongy sound. Also, the finish will pick up some stick marks (possibly due to me using firegrains), personally i don't think this is a big issue though. Overall, Iove this Cymbal, it's my favourite ride, awesome for heavy rock and sits in the mix perfectly for lighter smoother stuff, seems very durable and the quality is great! would wholeheartedly reccomend.
