"Stubby" is for ...."steady" !
DimKoski 10.11.2020
I tried a lot of picks,a really huge ammount! The last 10 years I've been married to Dunlop's big stubbies for many reasons! These picks have a great grip, because of their hollow body! You just can't loose it! This ensures an effective holding through the night on stage, where I usually play more than 20 songs, mostly around 30,so I get tired as the concert approaches it's end and a tight grip ensures accurate picking till the end.
Having a "drop" -like shape, stubbies have great "touch" on the strings. You can get a nice, flawless alternate picking, great string-slide for clean sweep-picking arpeggios and a powerfull, heavy strike when playing chords plus cool, crispy strumming sound! Yes, I love Dunlop Big Stubbies! In addition, these picks last for a really long time, due to their steady construction,so if you byu Thomann's 24 pcs pack, you will be covered for lots of rehearsals ,gigs and recordings!
So...a perfect tone tool with perfect grip, great durability in a big pack for a low price? It's a winner!

A
my new go-to pick
Anonymous 28.03.2016
I got these to experiment with thicker/sturdier picks, and it was a success. These are now my go-to picks. Initially I was a bit scared that such a big pick would be unweildly, and if you have the same concern, I must insist that you try such a pick out. Maybe you'll like the feel of it, like I did.

I'd been using the heavy Dunlop Tortex 1.14 for 10 years or so up to now, and picking up a big stubby was a revelation. I have a much better grip on them. They work great with hybrid picking. They sound a bit brighter, what with being a nylon pick, but I've gotten used to it.

I recommend the 24 pack because I, at least, wear the tip out rather quickly (it's noticeably less pointy after about two weeks of use).

I don't use anything else

These are really fast and smooth across my strings. Being fat and stubby, they are actually easy to grip.

My Favourite guitar pick, ever!
Richard H. 873 15.04.2015
I know these are very thick picks but they feel great in the hand and give you total control over your contact with the strings. I mainly play classic rock and blues with a mixture of clean tones and various degrees of crunch and over drive. You actually learn to use a lighter touch with these as the pick transfers all the energy from you hand to string so, for me at least, my playing became a lot more dynamic and when you dig in these really bring out all those harmonics. I use them on acoustic guitar also, again with a lighter touch from the right hand.
