Better than expected

La Bella (USA) is a highly rated manufacturer although their strings not readily available in shops in Europe - Thomann being one of few stockist.

The strings are superbly made and fits Arch Tops (i.e. a guitar with a tail piece such as Bigsby or similar). Do not cut!! After a small adjustment to the neck, my Gibson ES-175 handled the tension without any problems.

The real surprise was the ease of playability from the beginning to now (4 months later). The thought of a .067 low E string was daunting but no longer. On an ES-175 and a VOX AC30C2 amp it oozed warmth and depth, with a rich creamy tone.

If that is what you have in mind, I'd recommend these strings.

J
great jazz strings for arch-top jazz guitar
Jazzilis 22.11.2018
I use this strings in my arch-top washburn j6 wes guitar more than a year and still until now,so i decided to write a rewiew for this product cause im really excited(actually this is my very first rewiew ever)
I was a big fun of flatwound strings and still i am but when i`ve heard this strings on a video i`ve said i have to try these strings. They are still flatwound (with blacktape) but way more elastic(actually you can bend whole step in low E,A,D,G strings very easy!)They are also really long life strings cause of the blacktape winding.
Nice Dark jazz sound with more Briliance compare to nickel flatwoods.
maybe you will need a set up after putting these strings (maybe a neck relief) and also they have differend respond the bass set ,its more loud i can say!
these strings are only for jazz guitars(arch top or hollow body) and they are really fat.
The only issue i had,it was that the low e didnt feet to the key cause is really fat.0.67, but you can solve this by messuring and cut the string ,unwind just a litle bit and then you can easily put it again.
I recommend these strings its worth to try !

Great on a full hollow body!

Tried as a test. Expensive if that's all you want to do. I don't think any nylon wounds are super cheap. really nice mellow tone. great if you've a spare guitar. Not sure I'd have them as my only guitar strings

R
La Bella jazz tape strings
RichH 22.06.2020
I'm used to Thomasik Infeld flatwounds, and these are an interesting alternative

Pros: nice smooth strings, a different tonality, should last ages

Cons: you probably have to do alterations to your nut and setup for these, as few guitars are set for strings this thick

Overall: I will probably stick with TI flats for the time being, not because I don't like these, but due the extra work of getting the guitar nut cut for such thick strings. But do give them a try!
